In administering the Sunrise St. Pete programs, the City of St. Petersburg recognizes that certain situations may warrant deviations from established program policies to better serve residents and fulfill program objectives. In accordance with the City of St. Petersburg’s Action Plan and pursuant to 2 CFR 200 – Cost Principles, exceptions to the maximum award amounts may be authorized under specific circumstances. Such exceptions may be granted when required to comply with federal accessibility standards, to provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, or to advance the program’s recovery objectives in an impactful and efficient manner.

Additionally, the City may, at its discretion, consider exceptions to award limits in response to unforeseen or unanticipated circumstances, including but not limited to construction-related safety concerns, environmental remediation requirements, or historic preservation obligations. The following sections outline the considerations under which exceptions to these limits may be granted, as well as the procedures applicants must follow to request an exception.
