  • Collaborative for Healthcare Action to Reduce MedTech Emissions (CHARME)

    INFORMATION REQUEST
  • CHARME is an initiative convening health systems, medical device and equipment suppliers, distributors, GPOs, and other key industry stakeholders to define, implement, and champion best practices to reduce emissions from the MedTech supply chain.

    In June 2026, CHARME will begin a second phase of work to deepen impact, scale successes, and take on new challenges in supply chain sustainability.

    Dependent on capacity and commitment from current and new CHARME participants, we will launch 3-5 workstreams to run from 2026-2028, focused on circularity, resource stewardship, renewable energy, and transportation and logistics.

    CHARME participants must meet the following requirements:

     

    Each organization participating in CHARME must:

    • Be a health system, medical device or equipment supplier, distributor, or group purchasing organization, non-profit or nongovernmental organization, association, or industry partner
    • Have a public greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal in place.
    • Appoint a sustainability representative, a procurement representative, a clinical or product representative to participate in CHARME activities as needed, and a C-suite sponsor.
    • Participate in at least one CHARME workstream.
    • Attend at least 75% of CHARME meetings.
    • Pay annual fees of $5K for health systems, $15K for MedTech companies, distributors, and GPOs, and $25K for Key Supporters
