Emerging Talent Hubs
The Emerging Talent Hubs form the entry level of the VSA Performance Pathway. The program focuses on individual skill development, combining fundamental movement skills with volleyball-specific techniques and strategies. By taking athletes out of the traditional team environment, the hubs allow athletes to concentrate on their individual goals, technical progression, and becoming confident in all aspects of the game.
The program is designed to complement school, club, and state squad commitments, supporting and encouraging athletes to participate in these environments while providing an additional layer of targeted development.
The Emerging Talent Program is developed and led by Pathway Coach Kelly Poter (nee Lean) and and led by Pathway Coach Maicon Mendes da Cunha.
Kelly, who currently serves as the Head Coach of the Australian Under 18 National Team, brings an extensive and impressive volleyball background, including captaining the Australian Volleyroos.
Maicon has an extensive volleyball coaching background in both internationally and in Australia. He holds a degree in Physical Education bringing a strong knowledgeg of human physiology and athlete development to the program.
Maicon divides his time across all hubs, working with all of our Emerging Talent Hub Coaches sharing his expertise, delivering high-quality coaching, and conducting ongoing talent identification to support the growth and development of athletes within the program.
