  • HEED 2026 Application Form

  • Before you begin this application:

    1. Please use your own words and your own language if you wish.  We understand it can be tempting to use AI for your replies, but please believe that we would much rather hear your authentic voice.  If you prefer to write your application in your native language, we will arrange for it to be translated.  Mistakes in spelling or grammar make no difference to the strength of your application. Giving us a true glimpse of what matters to you is the most important.

    2. You do not need to be highly experienced in Playback, but you do need to be familiar with the basic forms and structure of a show, so that we all have a shared baseline to begin with.  Your background in other areas of creativity, social justice, and leadership is also important because we value diversity in our student cohort, and sometimes people new to Playback can bring fresh perspectives.  For that reason, please do not exaggerate or overstate your experience.  Having an accurate idea of your experience will help us to design a learning program that suits you.

    3. As much as possible, refer to your own lived experience to answer these questions: this is more important than abstract theory, certificates, or degrees.  Just as in a Playback show, we want to know about the moments that have shaped you.

    4. It is not necessary to have a fully developed project idea ready to go. We are inquiring about your areas of interest and your vision(s) for a Playback/social justice project in your own community, as this is what we will develop at HEED.  We understand and expect that your ideas will evolve throughout the program, but we want to know where your passion lies and understand your vision.

    5. We all have different definitions of ‘social / environmental justice’.  We understand that some people might be involved in protest activism, and others come from countries where this form of engagement is strictly banned.  For the purposes of this application, please reflect on the things that you do to bring meaningful support and change to your local or global community and environment.

Thank you for taking the time to fill in this application!
