Next Gen Summer 2026

The CUNY Haitian Studies Institute is inviting New York City youth (18 to 24 years old) to apply for its Next Gen Civics & Leadership Institute. Applicants can be high schoolers and college students.
Application and Requirements

An unofficial transcript, college enrollment or acceptance letter Letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, advisor, guidance counselor, religious leader, community leader or employer. A minimum of 2.5 GPA (Selected college students cannot be on academic probation) Be available to attend the entire Institute that will run from July 6 to July 23, 2026 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Be willing and available to volunteer at a local organization One-page of resume (If you do not have any employment experience, feel free to include relevant academic achievements, volunteer work, extracurricular activities, skills and any projects or coursework that demonstrate your abilities and interests.) A 500-word double-spaced essay written in English or Haitian Creole on why you want to participate in The Next Gen Civics & Leadership Institute and what you will contribute as a participant. Ensure your full name is in the top right corner of your essay.
Application Deadline: May 29, 2026, | Acceptance Notification: June 21, 2026.
