      The Market at Friday Harbour takes a boutique approach to markets—and that’s intentional.

      Located in the heart of Friday Harbour Resort, our market is designed to complement the overall guest experience. Visitors come to enjoy the marina, restaurants, patios, retail shops, seasonal events, and the waterfront. The market is one part of that experience, bringing together a thoughtfully curated collection of local brands.

      Because of this, our market has a different pace than many traditional festivals or community events. Rather than guests arriving solely to shop the market, many browse as they enjoy everything the resort has to offer. They take their time, ask questions, connect with vendors, and often return throughout the season. Many of the people who shop the market are homeowners, boaters, cottagers, weekend visitors, and families who visit Friday Harbour again and again.

      Our Approach
      We curate brands, not just products.

      When selecting vendors, we look beyond the product itself. We consider the overall brand experience, including presentation, style, product mix, pricing, target customer, and how each business complements the market as a whole.

      While some product categories may overlap, our goal isn’t to eliminate overlap—it’s to create variety. By bringing together businesses that feel visually and creatively different from one another, we’re able to offer guests meaningful choice while allowing each brand to stand out in its own way.

      We also believe collaboration creates a stronger market than competition. Over the years, we’ve watched vendors build friendships, refer customers to one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and create a welcoming atmosphere that guests genuinely enjoy being part of.

      While every business is different, we’ve noticed that the vendors who enjoy this market the most tend to share a similar mindset.

      Of course they want to make sales—but they also understand that a successful market day is about more than a single day’s revenue.
