I believe that bull riding does not belong at the city-owned Manchester SNHU Arena.
- Bulls Are Forced to Buck Beyond Their Natural Capacity
To make bulls buck explosively, riders and stock contractors use flank straps, spurs, and other pressure-based devices.
- Injuries Are Common — and Often Catastrophic
Bulls suffer broken legs, backs, and other traumatic injuries during rides. Bulls that break bones are typically euthanized.
- Bulls Have No Choice
Riders enter the arena by consent. Bulls do not.
- Human Safety Risks
Spectators are also at risk. Escaping bulls injure spectators and damage property.
Many cities around the country have passed ordinances to prohibit bull riding and/or rodeo events. I ask that Manchester do the same to protect animals and people.
