  • What to Expect:

Expect breaks! We have quite a lot of information to share with you and want you to retain as much as possible. To avoid Information Saturation, we take breaks every hour. This is time for you to rest your mind and feed your body with snacks and lunch. Though we can teach you over 75 wild edible & medicinal plants, we've learned that teaching 30 plants per day is the maximum we can teach and have Information Retention. Expect to learn about 15-20 plants and also a few bonus facts on plants and trees that can be used for survival uses, other than eating and making medicine. Please bring plenty of water and snacks and if you'd like bring a light chair so you can sit while your Instructors are teaching. Also, bring sun block, hat, pen and paper. If you have a hand held sized dry erase board, bring that along with a dry erase marker. You can write the plant name down on your board and take a photo of the board along with the plant for easier identification and studying later.

  • What NOT to Expect:

This class is held by the Piked Antler Project, LLC. Your Instructor is Will White, Founder. Our company focuses on Wilderness Survival. This class will lean towards identifying plants that can found in your yard and in the woods of the Appalachia. The focus will be on plants that can be used in a survival setting. What this means is that you will learn to identify plants that can be used almost immediately and prepared quickly, as if you were without a kitchen. This is NOT a homesteading class. You will learn what plants can be consumed immediately, which plants can be made into medicine on the spot, and how to prepare plants for consumption or medicine using basic tools (bottle, fire, mastication).
