  • What is the Francis A. Metcalfe Endowment Scholarship?

  • The Francis A. Metcalfe Endowment Scholarship Fund provides assistance with college expenses to children of an American Federation of State, County, and
    Municipal Employees Organization (AFSCME) employee, who are graduating seniors of traditional Miami-Dade County public high schools. This fund was made possible by the son of Francis A. Metcalfe, William, and his wife, Cecelia Davidson.

    Scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance, integrity, and potential to achieve post-secondary completion.

  • Qualifications:

  • M-DCPS High School Senior with an unweighted GPA of 2.5+ on a 4.0 Scale

    • Attended an M-DCPS school during all four years of high school.
    • Plan to attend a college or university and pursue a degree at an accredited post-secondary institution.
    • Have a parent who is an American Federation of State, County, and
      Municipal Employees Organization (AFSCME) employee
  • Application Requirements

    • Fully completed application with up-to-date and accurate information.
    • A copy of your most current transcript
    • A copy of your most current GradeTrack report
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation from a High School Counselor, Educational or Community Organization Leader
    • A typed essay answering the prompt provided (No more than 750 words).
  • Awarded M-DCPS Foundation Scholars will receive:

  • A scholarship for $2,000.00 ($1,000.00 per semester
    or divided equally in trimesters) annually throughout their post-secondary education for a maximum award of $8,000.00

    *To continue receiving payment, the student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
