    OLIVE TOWNSHIP FIRE ORDINANCE

  • 1. You must have a permit to have an open fire except as allowed by the Olive Township Fire Ordinance.
    2. No permit will be issued for an open fire between June 1 and October 31, unless an applicant posts $500.00 in cash or a cashier's check. If you are applying within these dates please ensure you have a deposit on file before completing this form.
    3. Any person who sets a fire without taking reasonable precautions to prevent its escape or leaves the fire before it is extinguished is guilty of a misdemeanor.
    4. Any person who negligently allows a fire to escape is liable for all expenses incurred by Olive Township Fire Rescue in the suppression of such fire.
    5. Any permit issued may be revoked if conditions are such that burning may not be done safely.
    6. All burning must comply with the Olive Township Fire Ordinance, all other applicable Township ordinances, and all other requirements of law.

    PLEASE keep your fire under control. Have water available, burn in calm weather, do not leave fire unattended. Extinguish
    your fire by dark.

    NO BURNING ALLOWED DURING A DNR OR STATE BURN BAN OR AT THE FIRE CHIEF'S DISCRETION ON WEATHER CONDITIONS.

  • YOU MUST HAVE A $500 DEPOSIT ON FILE WITH THE TOWNSHIP FOR BURNING BETWEEN JUNE 1 AND OCTOBER 31, 2026. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DEPOSIT ON FILE, PLEASE CONTACT THE TOWNSHIP.
