  • Thank you for your interest in the Stokes County Sheriff's Office Explorers Post 425. This program is designed for youth that have completed the 8th grade and are between the ages of 14-20. 
     
    Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Sheriff's Office located at 1012 Main Street, Danbury, NC 27016. 
  • The purpose of the Explorer’s program is:
     
    - To provide the explorers with insight and knowledge regarding aspects of the law enforcement professions, including required qualifications, training and the skills needed to participate in special events and competitions.
    - To develop leadership skills.
    - To provide the area with a well trained volunteer organization to assist Stokes County citizens.
    - To show the people in the community that today’s youth are committed to the citizens of Stokes County.
    - To teach explorers respect and being honest with professional attitudes by experienced individuals.
    - To assist the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office with duties and assigned task.
    - To promote social programs designed for Explorers to have such as camping outings, trips, and other get-togethers.

  • REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
    1.      Fill out an application
    2.      Be 14 years old or less than 21 years old
    3.      Must have completed the 8th grade
    4.      If in school, you must maintain a “C” average.
    5.      Not have any serious criminal convictions
    6.      Be willing to follow all by-laws and rules of the post and sheriff’s office.
    7.      Be interested in a career in a law enforcement related field.

    4.     Elements of criminal law
    5.     Defensive Tactics
    6.     Building Searches
    7.     Handcuffing
    8.     Fundraisers
    And much, much, more!!!!!!!
     
  • Community Service Projects
     
    The Explorers handle the Kids ID program where the Sheriff’s Office makes photo ID’s for the kids.
     
    Work with officers at fairs, festivals, and school athletic events.
     
    Assist officers with information booths setup at various events.
     
    Assist the Sheriff’s Office with special details when needed.
     
    We are available for parking details in the community.
