Purposes
The purposes of this program are:
1. Show gratitude for and recognition of people who volunteer their time and effort;
2. Highlight various volunteer-run or supported organisations within the Tilligerry Peninsula;
3. Increase cooperation and collaboration amongst volunteer organisations within the Tilligerry Peninsula;
4. Encourage more people to undertake volunteering, including students and the wider community.
Eligibility
· Volunteers nominated for recognition must live within the Tilligerry Peninsula. This area includes Salt Ash, Oyster Bay, Tanilba Bay, Mallabula and Lemon Tree Passage.
· There is no age restriction on those being nominated.
Conditions
· The Lions Club of Tilligerry Peninsula (“Lions Club”) will conduct the program at its discretion.
· Monthly nominations will be received up to the last day of each month. The Lions Club will determine the monthly winner at the following Lions Club Board meeting.
· The Lions Club will select for public recognition a maximum of one volunteer each month.
· The selection and outcomes from the nominations are entirely at the discretion of the Lions Club organising committee and no correspondence will be entered into.
· The Volunteer of the Month will receive a certificate and public recognition via the Lions Club social media accounts.
· The selected volunteer will be invited to attend an upcoming dinner meeting of the club.
· If the volunteer wishes to, they may speak about their organisation and volunteering at this meeting.
· The Lions Club will organise an annual event inviting representatives from all volunteer-run or supported organisations on the Tilligerry Peninsula. Attendance at this event will be at the cost of individuals attending.
· At the annual event, an annual winner will be presented with an award, and if agreed their nomination will be forwarded to Port Stephens Council Australia Day Awards
