NewComm — The New Community Project — is a student-powered learning community built on a single conviction: that young people closest to a problem are best positioned to solve it. Our mission is to build community that builds economic power.
General Members are the community. Every month, Fellows and their Project Teams bring real interventions — funded, community-facing work — to Design Studios, where General Members test prototypes, give feedback, and shape what gets built. This is not observation. Your perspective is the data.
Being a General Member also means access to programming designed to grow your capacity as a thinker, leader, and community member:
Design Studios — monthly gatherings where you test real prototypes built by NewComm Project Teams and give the feedback that shapes what happens next
Supper Clubs — breaking bread and learning directly from industry experts
Community Roundtables — student and guest-led sessions where facilitators share high-leverage tools and strategies you can put to use immediately
General Members who join by sophomore year are well-positioned to go deeper — as an Engaged Member on a Project Team, or as a Fellow leading one, by junior or senior year.
