  • APA Grant Gap Funding Proposal

In alignment with the APA’s mission to promote the study of the pancreas in health and disease—including advancing research in pancreatic biology and disease—the APA/APAF proposes the establishment of a Grant Gap Funding Program. This initiative will provide temporary bridge support for researchers whose federally funded work has been disrupted, ensuring research continuity and preserving critical scientific progress within the pancreatic research community.
  • Eligibility for this program includes:

    • Applicants must be current APA members in good standing.
Eligible applicants include domestic Principal Investigators at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with active NIH or NSF grants officially suspended due to federal action.
    • Applicants must be able to provide official documentation of the funding suspension.
    • Applicants must show how momentum will be maintained to ensure the project can resume seamlessly once federal funding is reinstated.
    • Applicants must obtain confirmation from their institution agreeing to match the award and return funds to the APA/APAF if the federal grant is reinstated during the gap funding period.

    Selection Criteria:

    • Demonstrated need: Clear rationale for why gap funding is necessary to advance the project at this stage.
    • Alignment with APA priorities: Degree to which the project supports APA’s mission, strategic goals, and priority areas.
    • Likelihood of future funding: Potential for gap funding to lead to additional or sustained funding opportunities.
