Foster Program General Policy
All foster caregivers are expected to provide a safe, clean environment, follow daily care guidelines and communicate regularly with our team about the cat’s health, behavior and progress. Taking clear photos of your fosters for their adoption bio is also required.
1. Virtual Home Check
A virtual home check is required to ensure your living environment is safe and suitable for fostering cats.
2. Minimum Fostering Commitment
Fosters must commit to a minimum of one month per placement. We prefer long-term fosters who can care for different cats throughout the year or on a quarterly basis.
3. Supplies
Any supplies (e.g., food, litter, crates, toys) provided by FBCR remain the property of Furballs. These items must be returned upon request and/or end of your fostering term. Supply pickups are necessary- sometimes volunteers are able to help out with this!
You are welcome to purchase your own supplies for fostering as well if you like. However, Food and supplement items must be approved! Note: Self-purchased supplies will not be reimbursed.
4. Replacement of Damaged or Unreturned Supplies
If any foster supplies are damaged or not returned, you are responsible for replacing them at your own expense. This ensures we can continue supporting other fosters and animals in need.
5. Traveling Requirements
Fosters are expected to be willing to travel and transport their foster animals to adoption events and medical appointments.
6. Supported Counties
Fosters must live in Fulton, Clayton, Henry, Cobb, Dekalb or Fayette County.
7. Wellness Visits
Fosters must allow scheduled wellness visits with our Foster Coordinator or Director.
Note: All medical care, supplies, and guidance are provided by Furballs, and fosters must promptly notify us of any health concerns or emergencies.
We reserve the right to rehome a fostered cat if the placement is not a good fit or if guidelines are not followed. Our goal is to ensure a safe, supportive experience for both cats and fosters while maximizing each cat’s chances for a successful adoption.
