Magnesite Symposium 2026

  • A conference dedicated to geoscience, exploration, licence to operate and the future of magnesite sourcing in Europe and beyond!

  • The “Wiener Rohstofftag” is a thematically dedicated symposium that brings together members of research organizations, geological surveys, government, industry, NGO, and mining stakeholders, as well as students and the interested public.

    The 2026 focus is the raw material magnesite. Topics include: geology of magnesite deposits, methods of exploration, social license to operate, global demand / supply, specific applications, recycling, magnesium criticality and alternative sources.

    Afternoon: Excursion to the magnesite quarry at Weissenstein

      --> After the field trip, barbecue at the Fairhotel Hochfilzen at own expense
