    Book club About
    African American Herbalism (Lucretia VanDyke)

Not your regular book club or class series, but a deeper dive into yourself and your herbal practices! Follow along with Lucretia as we work through her book “African American Herbalism: A Practical Guide to Healing Plants and Folk Traditions” as we share stories, learn about herbs, and craft your own healing journey with the plants. We will explore other books as they are relevant to this series. This is a hands-on classes in botanical skin care, plant based cooking, herbal medicine making, canning, plant knowledge, holistic healing, and soo much more.

Between the Recipes (Vanessa) We're here because we believe the real story lives in the notes. This monthly gathering prompts us to analyze the text before we taste it. Community members will also share their own personal (his)stories in a similar fashion to the (his)tories in the texts.
Planted (KG) This monthly gathering invites community members to reconnect with ancestral knowledge through the lens of plants, stories, and shared traditions. Each month, we center a plant from the African Diaspora—exploring its culinary, medicinal, and cultural significance—and pair it with a book (fiction or nonfiction) that highlights
Black farming, herbalism, or land-based storytelling. Come ready to read and grow.
Reading Black Lit (KG) Reading Black Lit connected community members with radical Black books. Each month we uplift one book written by a Black author. We believe building community through political education is crucial for our liberation. We also believe black people everywhere should have access to unlimited educational materials.
