  • Call for Nominations for IJRU Committees

  • The International Jump Rope Union ("IJRU") is an international sporting organization committed to promoting, growing, and encouraging the development of Jump Rope/ Rope Skipping Internationally.

    Our goal is to provide the best support and environment for our athletes and Jump Rope/ Rope Skipping Community. Jump Rope/ Rope Skipping is an incredible sport shared by members in over 68 countries. It is a powerful tool for exercise, competition and most importantly - bringing people together. The IJRU is an ever-changing and growing organization. Although we've come a long way in the past few years, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on an ongoing basis to help our organization function and achieve further success. To support the advancement of our athletes, we are looking for interested, qualified candidates that embody the values of the IJRU and share our passion for the power of sport to help lead the development of the organization in the following roles:

    • Disciplinary Panel, Member (4-year term)
    • Medical Committee, Member (2 or 4-year term)
    • Anti-Doping Panel, Member (4-year term)
    • Ethics Panel, Member (4-year term)
    • Technical Committee, Member (4-year term)
    • Technical Congress, Member (4-year term)

    Please see the description and the nomination process for these roles below.

    Please note that Committee members, except for individuals appointed to the Technical Congress, do not serve on committees as NGB representatives. Instead, they are representing the best interests of all athletes, the sport and IJRU in their role. Many committees only have 4 to 7 members. As a result, there will not be a member from each NGB on all committees.

Individuals interested in being considered for one of the roles should complete the attached nomination form and send it, and all required documents via this form. Please contact ethics@ijru.sport if you have questions. We hope that you will consider getting involved in IJRU and submit your application for one of our important committees.

  • Descriptions Roles and Duties

  • Ethics Panel 

    • Investigate and determine any alleged violation of the IJRU Code of Conduct, and Code of Ethics and recommend sanctions, as may be needed;
    • Be available to provide opinions to IJRU entities, including the Board of Directors on ethical issues and considerations;
    • Perform various administrative-adjacent. tasks such as running elections and participating in onboarding procedures.

    The IJRU Ethics Panel shall act in accordance with the principles of natural justice and shall determine its own procedure.

    The Ethics Panel shall receive nominations including the curriculum vitae and a current picture of the candidates from the recognized National Governing Body Countries for all positions on the Board of Directors, IJRU Committees, and Judicial Panels and make decisions on those nominations based on objective eligibility criteria for each position as determined by the Ethics Panel.

     

    Disciplinary Panel

    The Disciplinary Panel shall conduct hearings and impose sanctions in all disciplinary cases originating from violations of any IJRU Rules (except matters regarding Anti-Doping Control Rules, IJRU Constitution C 13.4 The sanctions determined by the Disciplinary Panel are limited to those described in the IJRU Constitution.

    The Disciplinary Panel shall act in accordance with the principles of natural justice and shall determine its own procedure.

    Members of the Disciplinary Panel are bound by confidentiality pertaining to all matters brought before the Panel.

    The hearings of the Disciplinary Panel shall respect the following principles:

    • A timely hearing; A fair and impartial hearing body;
    • The right to be represented by counsel at the hearing, with no expense to IJRU;
    • The right to be fairly and timely informed of the rule violation;
    • The right to respond to the rule violation and resulting consequences;
    • The right of each party to present evidence, including the right to call and question witnesses (subject to the hearing body's discretion to accept testimony by telephone or written submission);
    • The right to an interpreter at the hearing, at no expense to IJRU;
    • The right to a timely, written, reasoned decision, specifically, including an explanation of the reason(s) for any period of suspension.

    Additional duties to be determined in conjunction with initial membership of the Disciplinary Panel.

  • Medical Committee

    The Medical Committee shall deal with all medical aspects of all Jump Rope/Rope Skipping disciplines. The powers and duties of the Medical Committee are:

    • To provide medical and sport science expertise and give recommendations on any matter regarding sport science;
    • To consider the development of the medical, sanitary and medical control rules and to submit proposals for legislation;
    • To give recommendations on any matter regarding conditions of health in the practice of all disciplines of jumping;
    • To assess the availability of appropriate medical care for IJRU athletes and officials at IJRU Championships and Competitions;
    • To deliver evidence-based education to athletes and stakeholders;
    • To explore the potential of new technologies to optimize athletes' health and prevent their potential damaging effects;
    • To promote health and physical activity for the whole population.

    Additional duties to be determined in conjunction with initial membership of the Medical Committee.

  • Anti- Doping Panel

    The Anti-Doping Panel will provide a wide range of educational opportunities concerning anti- doping topics that are specific to the needs of athletes, coaches, administration, and other support personnel.

    As a Signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency [ WADA], the Anti-Doping Panel will work with WADA to remain compliant and current within the necessary guidelines to remain a Signatory.

    The Anti-Doping Panel will partner with independent testing agencies to comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency's CODE, and work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of testing.

    The Anti-Doping Panel shall conduct hearings and impose sanctions pursuant to IJRU Anti- Doping Control Rules.

    Additional duties to be determined in conjunction with initial membership of the Anti-Doping Panel.

     

    Technical Committee 

    The Technical Commitee are:

    • Single Rope Technical Committee consisting of 5 members;
    • Double Dutch Technical Committee consisting of 5 members;
    • Judges and Competition Officials Technical Committee consisting of 5 members;
    • Innovation Committee consisting of 5 members.

    The powers and duties of the Technical Committees are:

    • To analyze the requirement for improvements of the Technical Rules for Single Rope and Double Dutch, as applicable, and to consider corresponding proposals received from any Member;
    • To consider and decide upon any matter affecting their responsibility, which may be referred to them by the Board of Directors or the General Congress;
    • To appoint subcommittees, if required, to investigate, study, and recommend to the parent committee any matters referred to such subcommittee. The members of a subcommittee may be persons selected from outside the parent committee membership;
    • To investigate, study, and recommend on matters dealing with standard equipment and specifications for international competitions;
    • To evaluate and make recommendations regarding candidates, nominated by Members, for the title of international judge or competition officials;
    • To appoint one or more of its members to report on the qualifications of any person recommended as an international judge or competition officials and to report periodically on the continued qualifications of judge or competition officials on the existing list;
    • To receive and report to the Board of Directors any complaint made by judges or competition officials regarding misconduct of individuals in international competitions and to make recommendation thereon;
    • To take part in the technical preparations and in the conduct of the competitions in their discipline at the World Championships and other IJRU competitions;
    • To control all technical equipment and installations prior to and during an event; To make rosters for officials;
    • To investigate cases of protest as preparation an appeal; Single Rope, Double Dutch, and Judge and Officials Committee members are required to complete the IJRU online judges training program.

    The Technical Committees will meet at least once per month. Attendance is required unless otherwise excused by the Chair. The Chair of the committee reserves the right to call meetings more frequently, as needed.

  • Technical Congress

    The Technical Committees will report to the Technical Congress consisting of 2 delegates provided by each member country (full/provisional) in good standing.

    All rule changes/proposals made by the Technical Committees will be presented to the Technical Congress for approval. The Technical Congress must provide simple majority approval for a change to be implemented.

    Members of the Technical Congress will be responsible for:

    Reviewing and approving all rule changes/proposals presented by the IJRU Technical Committee;

    Engaging in strategic planning with the IJRU Technical Committee regarding future rules;

    Attending Technical Congress meetings with the Technical Committee at least twice per year (these meetings can take place virtually

    The Technical Congress reserves the right to call a Technical Congress meeting more frequently, if necessary.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications for IJRU Committees

    Below are minimum qualifications for the Ethics Panel, Disciplinary Panel, Medical Committee, Anti-Doping Panel, Technical Committee and Technical Congress.

    IJRU requests that qualified applicants, based on the minimum qualifications listed below submit this application. 

    General Minimum Qualifications

    • Originate from IJRU member country
    • Be at least 21 years of age
    • Read, write, and be able to communicate in English
    • Willing to undergo and pass a background check

     

    Ethics Panel + General 

    • Have a legal background 
    • Read, write, and be able to communicate in English
    • Willing to undergo and pass a background check

    Meical Committee + General 

    • Have a strong working background caring for athletes, including
    • Licensed Medical physicians including MD, DO, DC;
    • Certified Athletic trainers
    •  Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioners;
    • Engineering and applied sciences,
    • Biomedical engineering, background in medical surveillance and analytics, knowledge in health informatics;
    • Physical therapists who focus on rehabilitation of injuries; Sports Massage Therapists; Dieticians; Sports Psychologists.

    Medical committee members must meet current regulatory, licensing, insurance, and be in good standing with the appropriate state and or national certifying boards. Proof of malpractice and liability coverage may be requested.

  • Technical Committee + General

    • Have national or international level technical official experience in one of the following, Tournament Director; Technical Director; Judge. Please note that Technical Committee Members do not represent the NGB as delegate/representative. They are IJRU officials' representatives from a particular country. Instead, they represent the best interests of athletes throughout the world, the sport, and IJRU in their role on the committee. Many committees only have 4 to 7 members. As a result, there will not be a member from each NGB on all committees.
    • These individuals must not hold BOD positions in their Continental or National Governing Organizations.

    Technical Congress + General 

    •  Preferable, but not required, the NGBs rules expert Written appointment by IJRU member country (2 per country)
    • Please note that Technical Congress Members are representatives of their NGB as delegates. They are not IJRU officials in this capacity. Members of the Technical Congress will be responsible for: Reviewing and approving all rule changes presented by the IJRU Technical Committee; Engaging in strategic planning with the IJRU Technical Committee regarding future rules; Attending Technical Congress meetings with the Technical Committee at least twice per year (these meetings can take place electronically or in-person
  • Committee Nomination and Selection Process

    A. Panel, Committee, According to the section C 20.2 of the IJRU Constitution, members of the Technical and Specialized Committees are appointed by the Board of Directors at the first board meeting following a General Congress. Committee members must come from different Member Countries, (Full / Provisional in good standing) and can be: Nominated by the Board of Directors; Nominated by a Member NGB; Self-nominated.

    B. Technical Congress NGBs are given the freedom to select these representatives any way they wish. (For example, you could choose to appoint qualified members or hold an election with your membership Each recognized member of NGB can have 2 representatives on the Technical Congress. IJRU recommends selecting individuals that are experienced in the sport of Jump Rope/Rope Skipping, knowledgeable about rule sets, and have experience judging, competing, and/or running a tournament.

    A. Panel, Committee, Congress

    1. When the application is received by IJRU, an email response will be returned to the sending email address_noting that the application has been received and is complete to move forward or that the application is not complete and is being returned with the reason.
    2. The Ethics Panel will review all applications and curriculum vita received. They will then reach out to each nominee to confirm their eligibility and suitability for a role on an IJRU Specialized Panel. The Ethics Panel will inform the IJRU Board of Directors of the suitability of all candidates at the first board meeting following the General Congress. The IJRU BOD will take all nominations received and confirmed by the IJRU Ethics Panel into consideration when appointing members to each committee. Once the BOD has selected an individual for a committee position, IJRU will contact the individual's NGB for approval.
    3. If the individual is approved by the NGB, IJRU will contact the individual and offer them a position on the committee. If the NGB doesn't approve the individual, IJRU will contact the individual as such and go back to the list of nominees and select the next most qualified candidate and repeat the process of confirming the applicant.
    4. The Ethics Panel will communicate final selections to respective committee chairs.
    5. The committee chairs will forward new members the Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics and Conflict -of- Interest/Confidentiality signature forms for completion/ signature prior to participation.

    B. Technical Congress

    1. Once received, the IJRU BOD will review all NGB nominations and confirm the appointments of the individuals to the Technical Congress. The IJRU BOD will notify the members of their appointment.
    2. The committee chairs will forward new members the Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics and Conflict -of- Interest/Confidentiality signature forms for completion/ signature prior to participation.
