Statement of Understanding

On behalf of the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta, welcome to the annual bus trip to Howard University, April 8 - 12, 2026.

Each year, Howard looks forward to our arrival and this year is no exception. This volunteer committee has personally talked with numerous Deans, Professors, and Administrators. All have expressed overwhelming support for our event.

College is an important decision to make. This experience will allow students to take full advantage to talk to as many people as they can about their experience, collect materials and really take inventory of Howard University. Throughout the trip the students will meet with Deans of various schools and Administrators from Admissions, Financial Aid and Housing. Students will depart the evening of April 9th and arrive the morning of April 10th to meet with student hosts and prepare for tours and orientation.

Please be assured that the Alumni Club has gone to great lengths to provide an informative and educational, yet safe opportunity for students to live the “Howard Experience.” If you need to contact us, just email us at howardbustrip@gmail.com.

The cost is $645 per person for early bird registration thru Feb 15, 2026. After Feb 15th, 2026, the cost is $695. Please note registration is non-refundable. Registration includes transportation, hotel lodging, campus visits, and tours. Note: Priority will be given to Juniors and Seniors. Also note, the trip routinely sells out prior to the early bird registration deadline. Parent/student Q&A sessions will be scheduled for February and March.

In order to make your trip safe and productive, thoroughly complete the following information. The student will NOT be allowed to attend the bus trip if this information is not completed prior to our departure.

By signing this document you acknowledge that you will not seek to have the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta and Howard University held liable in the event that any accident, injury, loss of property or any other circumstance or incident occurs during or as a result of my son’s/daughter’s participation in the Bus trip. This release of liability includes accident, injury, loss, or damages to the student, as well as, to other individuals or property which may result from the student’s participation in the event. I hereby release and agree to hold harmless Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta and Howard University, its officials, agents and employees, from any claims arising out of my son’s/daughter’s participation in the event(s).

I, the undersigned parent or legal guardian of the above-referenced student hereby give my consent that, in the event of accident, illness or emergency, medical examination and/or treatment may be administered to my child until such time as I can be reached by phone. In the event, I am not available to give telephone consent, I designate the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta chaperone as a parent designee. I also hereby release the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta and Howard University from any and all liabilities. It is understood and agreed that I will personally bear all expenses in connection with this trip.

I hereby grant and authorize Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta and Howard University the right to take, edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, distribute and make use of any and all pictures or video taken of me to be used in and/or for any lawful promotional materials including, but not limited to, newsletters, flyers, posters, brochures, advertisements, fundraising letters, annual reports, press kits and submissions to journalists, websites, social networking sites and other print and digital communications, without payment or any other consideration.

This authorization extends to all languages, media, formats, and markets now known or later discovered.

This authorization shall continue indefinitely unless I otherwise revoke this authorization in writing.

I further understand and agree that Howard University, the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta or the Howard University Georgia Club, in no way accept responsibility for:

FOOD, SAFE CONDUCT, PROTECTION OF PERSONS, PROTECTION OF PROPERTY AND EFFECTS, CONDUCT OR BEHAVIOR OF ANY INDIVIDUAL INCIDENTAL OR ANY OTHER EXPENSES CALLED FOR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS TRIP, OR ANY LIABILITY ARISING FROM ANY SOURCE WHATEVER IN CONNECTION WITH THIS TRIP.

In order to minimize the risk of exposure of COVID-19 to students and chaperones, we ask that everyone review the below questions and respond prior to the trip. This information will only be used for purposes of minimizing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 to all our attendees.

If you would like to learn more about why we are taking steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19, you may review the Centers for Disease Control FAQs. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
