Background
The City of Wilsonville is considering substantial increases to sewer and stormwater utility fees that would significantly impact households, families, seniors, renters, and local businesses. These proposed increases represent long-term financial commitments and would meaningfully raise the cost of living and doing business in our community.
While we recognize the importance of maintaining and improving critical infrastructure, we believe the scale and timing of these proposed fee increases warrant direct voter input. Decisions of this magnitude should reflect the will of the community as a whole.
Our Request
We respectfully ask the City Council to refer the proposed sewer and stormwater utility fee increases that are beyond the CPI to the voters of Wilsonville at the next available election, allowing residents to review, consider, and decide whether these increases are appropriate and affordable.
Referring this matter to the ballot promotes transparency, accountability, and public trust, while ensuring that those most affected have a direct voice in the decision-making process.
By signing this petition, we urge the Wilsonville City Council to pause implementation of these increases and allow the voters to decide.
