  • Legal Pipeline Initiatives (Option A) Middle School Law Camp

    What this project involves
    Help organize a one-day law camp hosted at an Indiana law school for middle school students. Students will be introduced to lawyering skills such as interviewing, negotiation, and advocacy through hands-on activities.

    Indiana State Bar Association staff will help manage logistics and coordination. Volunteers will assist with attorney/judge recruitment and outreach to schools in their communities.

    Good fit if you:

    • Enjoy community engagement
    • Have connections to schools, educators, attorneys, or judges

    Workload 
    Several virtual meetings to brainstorm, settle details. Email communications with other project leaders and for recruitment efforts. Timelines will be tailored to your needs. 

  • Legal Pipeline Initiatives (Option B) Local School Visits 

    What this project involves
    Use your network and skills to visit one of your local schools. Take a couple of colleagues along and visit a school for an hour or a over lunch. Read students a book or host a Q&A. Share with students what it's like to practice law and demonstrate law as a career path. 

    Good fit if you:

    • Are passionate about early pipeline and outreach efforts
    • Enjoy community engagement
    • Have connections to schools, educators, attorneys, or judges
    • Like short-term projects 

    Workload 
    This project is more independent, as you will use your community connections to coordinate with a school local to you. You can treat this as a one and done volunteer opportunity or you can coodrinate multiple visits. We do have volunteers who have done this before and they can share their framework so you don't have to re-invent the wheel.

  • ICLEO Support (Option A) Fundraising Event
    Help plan and execute a fundraising initiative benefiting Friends of ICLEO, which provides financial support to law students facing unexpected or unmet costs during law school

    Good fit if you:

    • Enjoy event planning, hosting, or donor engagement
    • Like building relationships around a concrete goal
    • Are passionate about helping underrepresented law students succeed

    Several virtual meetings to brainstorm, settle details. Email communications with other project leaders and for recruitment efforts. Timelines will be tailored to your needs. 

  • ICLEO Support (Option B) ICLEO Alumni Mentorship 
    Serve as a mentor to recent ICLEO graduates as they transiotn from law school into practice. 

    Good fit if you:

    • Are interested in one-on-one support and connections
    • Prefer mentorship to planning work
    • Have a passion for helping recent grads navigate the trasition from law school to practice especially for graduates who fall into underrepresented demographics or experiences. 

    Workload
    Timeline can be short or long and format can be tailored to fit your needs (virtual, phone calls, email, coffee, etc.)

  • CLE Planning – Practical Programming

    What this project involves
    Assist in identifying topics and speakers for practical CLE programs sponsored by the committee. The first series of CLEs will focus on legal How To's for attorney practice development. 

    Good fit if you:

    • Stay current on practice trends
    • Enjoy shaping educational programming
    • Have ideas for practical skills-based CLEs

    Workload

    Most work will occur over email. We hope to produce one CLE per quarter.
