NOVA Academy OC

2026-2027 Intent to Enroll Process and Form
NOVA Academy OC (“NOVA Academy”) is a tuition-free public charter middle school designed to ignite curiosity, build confidence, and prepare students even earlier for long-term academic, professional, and personal success. NOVA Academy OC will serve and support middle school students countywide by building strong academic foundations, fostering early college and career exploration, and providing a seamless transition into NOVA Academy’s high school and dual enrollment program.

Statement of Non-Discrimination
NOVA Academy will not discriminate against any student based upon any of the characteristics listed in Section 220 (actual or perceived disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristics that is contained in the definition of hate crimes set forth in Section 422.55 of the Penal Code, including immigration status) or upon any other characteristic or class protected by state or federal law or local ordinance in the administration of its programs, admissions policies, and all other operations.

Non-Sectarian
NOVA Academy is non-sectarian in its programs, admission policies, employment practices, and all other operations.

Enrollment in Other District Schools
No students shall have any right to enrollment in another school or program of the {district} exclusively by virtue of their enrollment to NOVA Academy.

Open Enrollment Period
The Intent to Enroll form will be accepted beginning {date_start} and must be completed online by 12:00pm, noon, on {date_end} (please see time and location below). No late Intent to Enroll forms will be accepted. Please note that each child applying is to have his/her own form on file by the due date and time. This includes multiple births (e.g., twins) and each will be handled separately like any other sibling.

Enrollment Packet
Enrollment packets for students who have been admitted to NOVA Academy will be available immediately following the completion of the Public Random Drawing on {date_lottery}. The enrollment packet requires the following information: proof of minimum age requirements (e.g., US or foreign government-issued identification), proof of immunization, reasonable proof of residency (utility bill, verification letter, etc.), unofficial transcripts or 8th grade report card. Enrollment packets that are missing any of the required information will be considered incomplete and will not be accepted. Enrollment packets MUST be completed and returned to NOVA Academy with all required documentation no later than {date_packet}. Admission will be forfeited if the packet is not received by this deadline. There will be no exceptions to this deadline.

Public Random Drawing
NOVA Academy shall admit all pupils who wish to attend the school, subject to its capacity. If the number of pupils who wish to attend the school exceeds the school’s capacity at any grade level, admission shall be determined by public random drawing (lottery) in accordance with the admission preferences discussed on page 2 of this form. The public random drawing will be held in-person on {date_lottery} at 5:00 pm at {campusAddress}. The public is welcome to attend, but presence is not required to secure admission.

NOVA Academy will post the results of the Public Random Drawing on the school office window on the morning of {date_posted}. Lottery results will also be posted to our website at www.nova-academy.org.

Applications will be accepted during a publicly advertised open enrollment period each year for enrollment in the following year. Current students attending NOVA Academy will be required to turn in an “Intent to Return” form for guaranteed admission. Admission preferences in the case of a public random drawing shall be extended as provided for by law and in the approved charter as follows:
- Siblings of students admitted to or attending NOVA Academy
- Children of employees of NOVA Academy
- All other applicants

NOVA Academy School Family Commitment

Each year, parents are encouraged to volunteer at least 10 service hours per student or 20 service hours if you have two or more students at NOVA Academy. Parent involvement is not required for acceptance to, or continued enrollment at, NOVA Academy. In addition, NOVA Academy parents will be required to sign a Parent/Student Handbook, which will describe in more detail NOVA Academy’s expectations of students, parents, and the school.
