  • This application is to register for the 2026 NSBE SEEK program in Houston,TX. This applicaiton closes on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 11:59PM EST.

    ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS

    To participate in Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK), students must be a rising 4th, rising 5th, or rising 6th grader for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year located in the United States and/or Canada.

    Your student is NOT guaranteed to have a spot until you receive an acceptance email. 

    Students determined to most benefit from the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) experience will be selected for participation. Criteria for selection may include, but is not limited to:

    • Gender
    • Age/Grade
    • Zip code
    • Household income
    • Previous camp participation
    • Previous camp attendance record
    • Sibling participation
    • NSBE Jr membership status
    • Member of NSBE partner organizations
    • Other student selection criteria required by funders, school districts, american camp association, etc.

    Students will be selected for participation from the eligible applicant pool for that particular city.

    Parents will be notified of acceptance into the program on a rolling bases via email.

  • To remain in compliance with our American Camp Association (ACA) Accrediation, you are required to upload a health history record showing your child's last tetanus shot.

    • In-person camp operates Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm, local time.
      • No drop-offs are permitted before 8:30AM and students must be picked up no later than 3:45PM.

      Emergency Contacts and Authorized Pick-Up Persons:

Please note that student staff ratio is 12:1, staff are not professionally trained or certified to handle certain types of behaviors or medical conditions.

      Discipline Policy and Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

      It is our intention to provide your child with a safe and secure environment. We attempt to create a warm, comfortable and fun environment that will make your child look forward to coming to camp each day. In order to ensure the quality of this program and safety of all students and staff, each student must follow the program rules. Students are encouraged to practice social skills that will allow them to resolve conflicts and meet their needs without the use of harmful or destructive behaviors. Program staff will make every effort to ensure all students have a positive experience at camp. When a student does not follow the behavior guidelines, we will take the following action steps.

      General Behavior Rules

      • Show respect to all participants, staff, school officials, program equipment and facilities
      • Use appropriate language at all times
      • Listen and follow instructions

      Discipline Policy

      1. Verbal warning with redirection. Staff member will submit an incident report with a "verbal warning" for record keeping.

      2. Written warning: Staff member completes an incident report with a "Written Warning Notice" to submit to Program Managers. Staff will speak to parent at pick-up time regarding the "Written Warning Notice" and create a plan for student corrective behavior.

      3. Suspension: After 2 written warnings, students receive a suspension. Staff member will complete the indcident report indicating a "Suspension Notice" Parent/guardian will be immediately notified of a suspension. Child will be suspended from the program for the remainder of that day and the following day.

      4. Withdraw from program: If the student receives 2 suspensions, they are automatically withdrawn from the program. They will not be eligible to return to the program for the remainder of the program, nor able to transfer to another camp within the season. An incident report with a "Withdrawl Notice" will be completed by the staff member. Student will be eligible to register for camp the following year, but only upon the approval of a NSBE World Headquarters representative.

      5. Immediate Dismissal: Inappropriate online posting, or bullying/teasing toward another student or staff. Any child who harms himself or another (physical and/or verbal). Refusing to follow the behavior guidelines using profanity, vulgarity or obscenity, refusal to participate in activities or cooperate with staff. Staff member(s) will submit an "Immediate Dismissal Notice" incident report. Students who receive an immediate dismissal notice will NOT be permitted to participate in the Summer Engineering Experiecne for Kids (SEEK) program again.

      Liability Release and Parental Consent Form: 

       

      In consideration of the acceptance of my child’s application for the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) program, I hereby waive, release, and discharge all claims for damages including personal injury, and property damages that may hereafter occur to my child or myself, as a result of participation in the program. 

      This release is intended to discharge the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) program in advance as well as its employees, school facilities, associated agents and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) from liability, even though that liability may arise out of perceived negligence. It is understood that some activities and or equipment at camp may involve some risk or danger of an accident. Knowing those risks, I assume those risks. It is understood and agreed that my signature on this waiver is a condition of my child’s acceptance into the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) program.

      I hereby acknowledge and grant the program, its photographers, videographers, representatives, sponosrs, and employees the final right and permission to take photographs, and/or videos of me and /or my child while engaged in camp activities; with the right to copyright, use and publish in print and/or electronically for program marketing purposes only.

      I give consent for my child to participate in the program. I also give my consent to have the above participant treated by emergency medical personnel, a physician, or a surgeon, in the case of sudden illness or injury while participating while at the program. 

      It is understood that the program will not provide medical insurance or any other form of insurance for such treatment and that the cost will be at my expense. I have read and understand the Liability Release and Parental Consent Form, and agree to all of its terms and conditions.

    • By filling out this registration form you are acknowledging that:

      Photo and Video Release: 

      I allow the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and all Sponsors to take or capture my child's photos and videos.

      I understand that I nor my child will not receive any monetary compensation.

      I authorize NSBE and all Sponsors to distribute and reproduce the materials for the following purposes: Portfolio showcase, advertising, marketing, branding, educational, digital promotions, internet videos, online courses, media, other commercial or non-commercial purposes.

      I grant NSBE and all Sponsors to use my child's photos and videos on Youtube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

      I understand that the photos and videos taken during the 2026 season will be covered with this document only.

      I release NSBE and all Sponsors from all liability and obligations from any claim for injury, illnesses, claims, or demands.

      I/We, the undersigned, hereby agreed that we have read this agreement and bounded by it.

      Parental agreement is required for the student to participate. 

    • Parent/Guardian Consent and Agreement for Emergencies

      Every effort will be made to notify parents immediately in case of emergency. In the event of an emergency, and the Parents are not reachable your listed emergency contact will be notified. I hereby give permission to the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) program to secure and authorize emergency medical care and/or treatment to my child who might require while under the supervision of camp. I further authorize camp staff or the on-site nurse to administer emergency care/treatment(CPR/First Aid) deemed necessary, until medical assistance is available. I also agree to pay all costs and fees contingent of any emergency medical care and/or treatment for my child. I consent for the emergency contact person (s) listed above to act on my behalf until I am available.

      3. Parent/Guardian Will Receive an Acceptance Letter OR Denial (email) - if accepted, parent has 5 business days to confirm their child's attendance.
