• Pinewoods Scottish Sessions 2026 Registration

  • Kendal Ghyll among tall pines at sunset
  • Greetings campers!

We hope you'll join us at Scottish Sessions 2026 for dancing, music, and slightly spooky goings-on—the theme is "Pinewoods Ghost Story", so bring your brightest flashlights! Use this form to register for either or both sessions: Session I is July 10–13, and Session II is July 13–18. If you're looking to register for ESCape (July 6–10), they have their own registration form.

Please fill out a registration form for each camper, including children. A $50 deposit per session is required for each registrant; at the end of this form you'll have a chance to either pay your deposit online or find the address to mail a check to. The deposit will be applied toward your attendance fee.

If we receive more registrations than available spots at camp for either session, we will give equal priority to all registrations received by March 15th and run a random lottery to determine admittance. Those who aren't immediately admitted will be placed on a waitlist, and those who don't get in from the waitlist will have their deposits refunded. All registrations received after March 15th will be first come, first served.

Pinewoods Scottish Sessions is open to dancers of all ages. Dancers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who will be responsible for them at all times. There will not be separate classes or programming for younger attendees.

Part-time attendance cannot be considered. No visitors or pets are permitted at camp.

If you have any questions, or would just like to learn more about Pinewoods Scottish Sessions, please visit our website at rscdsboston.org/pinewoods-scottish-sessions.html, or contact the co-chairs at scdpinewoods@gmail.com.

    Yours,

  • Pinewoods Camp and the Scottish Dance and Cultural Education Association (SDCEA) both offer scholarships to attend camp, which usually cover 50% to 100% of your attendance fee. Select "Yes" to see more information and apply on the next page, or "No" to skip past it.

  • Kitchen Work Exchange

In exchange for helping out as a dishwasher after meals (two meals per day), recipients will receive a 50% reduction in their attendance fees. Recipients will need to follow Pinewoods kitchen regulations. Work exchange decisions will be made by the Scottish Sessions co-chairs.

  • Pinewoods Camp, Inc Scholarships

PCI supports diversity in the folk arts community by offering scholarships at each of the sessions held at Pinewoods for up to 100% of the attendance fee.

New Generation Initiative (NGI) scholarships are intended for campers between the ages of 15 and 30 who are new to Pinewoods Camp and are interested in leadership roles in traditional music, dance, and song. Each recipient is expected to take full advantage of classes and activities.

Need-based scholarships are available to any age camper who demonstrates need for financial assistance to attend camp. Preference may be given to those who are new to camp.

BIPOC Scholarships are intended for any age camper who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color. Recipients may be experienced or new to our music and dance tradition; preference may be given to those who are new to camp.

After camp, all scholarship recipients will be encouraged to provide stories, photos, and feedback from their time and experience at camp.

More information about PCI scholarships can be found on the Pinewoods website.

Decisions will be made by the Scottish Sessions co-chairs. Please indicate whether you would like to apply, and we will be in touch with you to follow up.

  • SDCEA Scholarships

The Scottish Dance and Cultural Education Association of Boston (SDCEA) administers several scholarship funds which can provide 50% funding for Pinewoods, available to both Boston Branch members and non-members.

The co-chairs do not administer SDCEA scholarships, so you must apply separately online using this SDCEA form or print out the scholarship application form and mail it to the address listed. For further details on eligibility and contact information, please visit the SDCEA fund description page on RSCDS Boston's website.

  • Pinewoods Camp, Inc. tracks camper ages for demographic purposes, and we use it for cabinmate matching. If you'd like to share your age, enter it here.

  • Pinewoods Scottish Sessions are open to dancers of all ages. Dancers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for them at all times.

Youth are expected to participate in dance activities in an age-appropriate fashion. There will not be separate classes or programming for younger attendees.

More information about youth attendance can be found at rscdsboston.org/pdf/pw-youth-faq.pdf.

The co-chairs will contact you/your guardian via email with additional paperwork including a Parent/Guardian Responsibility Form and Medical Care Authorization Form closer to camp.

  • Please check the following boxes if you do NOT want us to list these in the camper directory.

  • All campers are expected to help out with some camp chores, like setting tables for meals or sweeping pavilions, but if you'd like to be considered for a larger role, either this year or in the future, let us know! Certification is required for first aid and for lifeguard.

  • We coordinate with the Pinewoods sessions immediately before and after Scottish Sessions, so we can let the grounds crew know which cabins will be occupied between sessions and count campers who'll eat lunch on changeover day. (We do our best to ensure campers don't need to move between sessions, but that is not possible in every case.)

  • Attendance policies

  • RSCDS Boston Branch Policy Regarding Participation in Branch Events

Classes and events sponsored by the RSCDS Boston Branch are intended to be pleasurable occasions for learning and enjoying the performance of Scottish country dancing. To foster those goals and to ensure the safety of all, the Branch expects that everyone attending its events will conduct themselves courteously and with appropriate respect for other participants.

Physical contact and flirting are integral parts of Scottish Country Dancing, but it is important to be sure that everyone involved is a willing participant, both on and off the dance floor. If someone is making you uncomfortable by touching you, flirting with you, making suggestive comments, following you, etc., you are encouraged to inform the event organizers or any member of the Executive Committee, who will address the issue.

The RSCDS Boston Branch reserves the right to expel from an event any person who is unable to conform to these standards or whose behavior is determined by the event organizers or the Executive Committee to be offensive, dangerous, or disruptive to the enjoyment of the event by other participants. If a person is required to leave an event for any of these reasons, no refund of registration or other fees will be made. Repeated offenses, or individual blatant and deliberate offenses, may result in a ban from future Branch events at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

Massachusetts law prohibits the consumption of alcohol by anyone under age 21 and imposes severe penalties for supplying alcoholic beverages to such a person. It is the stated policy of the Boston Branch to ensure that participants in the events it sponsors comply with Massachusetts law. Participants in Branch events who consume alcohol in violation of Massachusetts law may be denied participation in the event or in future events. Anyone over age 21 who supplies alcohol to or otherwise enables its consumption by participants in Branch events who are under 21 violates Branch policy and, as a consequence, may be denied participation in Branch events.

  • Pinewoods COVID policy

In order to keep campers and crew healthy, Pinewoods Camp, Inc. requires attendees to test for COVID and agree to their COVID attestation. All campers must agree to abide by these policies. The 2026 policies are not yet set, but you can read last year's policies on the Pinewoods website. The policies for 2026 are likely to be similar to or looser than those for 2025.

RSCDS Boston encourages all attendees to be vaccinated with the latest COVID booster (and all other appropriate vaccinations!), and to exercise extra care in the week before camp, especially in crowded areas and on public transportation like airplanes and trains. We really, really don't want to have to send anyone home because of a positive test!

RSCDS Boston will refund all or part of the Pinewoods attendance fee of any camper who cannot attend all or part of their session(s) as a result of COVID symptoms or a positive test.

If you have any questions or concerns about these policies you can email the co-chairs at scdpinewoods@gmail.com.

  • Refund Policy

    Before June 20

If you withdraw for any reason before June 20, we will refund your attendance fee, minus your registration deposit. Deposits are only refundable if you are forced to cancel for reasons outside your control, like a medical issue or family emergency—drop us a note if you’re unsure.

If you paid by credit card, we will refund your credit card processing fee if we can process the refund within 60 days of your payment. Otherwise, we will send your refund by check minus the processing fee.

    After June 20

We send billable attendance numbers to Pinewoods Camp on June 20. After that, we will only refund your attendance fee (minus your deposit) if we can fill your spot with someone from the waitlist. If we can’t admit a replacement, we cannot issue a refund after June 20. Please contact us if you’d like to know whether we have a waitlist.

    Waitlisted registrants

If you are waitlisted and then not admitted from the waitlist, or if you withdraw from the waitlist before being admitted, your deposit will be refunded in full.

    COVID exemptions

We will offer a full refund (including deposit) at any time before your arrival at camp if:

    • …you exhibit COVID symptoms or a positive test within ten days before the start of your session
    • …you learn your attendance might imperil someone in a high-risk category.
    • …Pinewoods' COVID policy changes to something you can no longer comply with or no longer feel safe about.

Anyone who must leave camp due to symptoms or a positive test will receive a prorated refund based on the days they were able to attend.

If you have last-minute concerns or anxiety about safety that prevent you from attending, let us know as soon as you can and we’ll consider an exemption to the standard refund policy.

  • Since you have chosen to pay electronically, your credit card will be charged when you submit this form.
