Symposium Registration
  • PREHOSPITAL EMERGENCY CARE SYMPOSIUM

  • This Pre-Hospital Critical Care Symposium is a full-day, scenario-based educational event designed for pre-hospital providers across certification levels. Check-in will begin at 7:30 AM, followed by a keynote presentation at 8:00 AM.

Attendees will rotate through six breakout scenario sessions throughout the day, featuring a balanced mix of trauma and medical cases involving both adult and pediatric patients. Participants may choose to complete all six scenario sessions or follow a specialized track featuring Mark Litwinko’s Rescue Task Force (RTF) session, which will replace three of the scenario rotations. The RTF breakout will provide an overview of Rescue Task Force concepts and include an integrated educational scenario.

During all scenario sessions, attendees may choose to participate directly or serve as an observer. This format allows participants to tailor their experience while maintaining a strong focus on realistic, high-quality pre-hospital care.

  • On the this page, you will be asked to select the pathway you would like to follow for the day. Path 1 includes participation in all six simulation breakout sessions. Path 2 includes Mark Litwinko’s Rescue Task Force session plus three additional breakout sessions. The Rescue Task Force session will be scheduled in either the morning or afternoon.

After selecting your pathway, you will be prompted to choose whether you would like to participate or observe during each session. Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on participation levels and sign-up availability.

  • Pathway 1: Simulation-Only Pathway

By selecting Track 1, you will complete six simulation scenarios throughout the day. Listed below are all of the scenarios you will participate in. For each scenario, please select whether you would like to actively participate or observe. You may mix and match your selections based on the type of scenario and your personal comfort level with hands-on participation.

  • Pathway 2: Rescue Task Force (RTF)

By selecting Track 2, you will participate in Mark Litwinko’s Rescue Task Force (RTF) session. This track allows you to either actively participate in the RTF scenario or observe, based on your selection. The session will include instruction, law enforcement insight, and scenario-based participation. In addition to the RTF session, you will be asked to select three additional simulation scenarios. For each of these scenarios, please indicate whether you would like to participate or observe.

  • Breakout Descriptions

    Southwest Pediatric Trauma Scenario

This hands on pediatric trauma scenario focuses on recognizing and managing critically injured children using a structured assessment approach.

    Southwest Adult Trauma Scenario

This adult trauma scenario emphasizes systematic trauma assessment and decisive patient management. Crews will work through evolving injuries that require rapid identification of life threats, appropriate intervention selection, and effective team communication, reinforcing core trauma principles applicable to everyday prehospital practice.

Fort Wayne Fire Department Adult Medical Scenario

This pediatric-focused simulation challenges participants to assess and manage a critically ill toddler with evolving respiratory compromise. Emphasis is placed on pediatric assessment, recognition of subtle clinical changes, airway decision-making, and avoiding common cognitive pitfalls in high-stress situations.

Fort Wayne Fire Department Pediatric Medical Scenario

This adult medical simulation centers on the prehospital evaluation of acute neurologic symptoms. Participants will focus on rapid assessment, critical thinking, and distinguishing time-sensitive emergencies while avoiding diagnostic tunnel vision.

    Lutheran Hospital OB Scenario

This prehospital obstetric scenario challenges crews to assess and manage a pregnant patient in an out of hospital environment. Participants will focus on maternal assessment, recognition of normal versus high risk findings, preparation for potential delivery, and early decision making regarding transport and resource needs while managing time sensitive obstetric priorities.

    Lutheran Hospital Adult Trauma Scenario

This prehospital adult trauma scenario challenges crews to manage an undifferentiated traumatic patient from initial contact through ongoing assessment and transport decision making.

  • You will receive your finalized schedule with session rotations on the day of the symposium. Your Certificate of Completion will be issued within one month after completing the training.
