Distinguished Scholar Award
Evidence submitted of nominee's significant contributions should represent work in all of the following categories: 1) Evidence of research in the field of gifted education, 2) Evidence that contributions reflect a continuous and noted record of involvement in G/T field, and 3) Evidence of recognition by peers of the importance of the nominee's contributions.
Evidence of Ongoing Research in the Field of Gifted and Talented. Nominee has: Continuously participated in research development in gifted education for more than ten years, been recognized as expert in particular aspects of gifted education, demonstrated a history of research published in refereed journals and contributed through presentations that are refereed nationally and internationally.
Evidence That Contributions Reflect a Continuous and Noted Record of Involvement in the Field of Gifted and Talented Education. Nominee has: authored a seminal work in the field or developed a theory or model that is recognized, published books, book chapters, or monographs.
Evidence of Recognition by Peers of the Importance of the Above-Mentioned Contributions Nominee has been: recognized through awards from universities, organizations, or advocacy groups, elected to offices in educational organizations and participated on editorial boards and other juries of peers.

Distinguished Service Award

Contributions Over Time Provide evidence of contributions over time to the field of gifted education: advocacy/policy achievement, legislative success, and/or service in an advisory role at the state or national level with demonstrated results.
Contributions to NAGC Show evidence of leadership roles (i.e., committees, BOD, networks), creation of initiatives or contributed in ways that provided increased service to NAGC members such as special events, pre-convention sessions, or fundraising; or receiving grant funding for completed and successful projects.

Evidence submitted should represent significant contribution in one of the following areas, or various contributions in more than one area: *leadership roles in local, state, and national organizations for the gifted, *service to local, state, and national organizations for the gifted, *leadership or service that originated in a unique contribution.

Service to Local, State, and/or National Organizations for the Gifted: Has the nominee chaired a committee or task force, been editor for newsletters or publications, been of assistance to a state through the state department of education, developed seminars, or been an active member of NAGC by serving on committees which produced products or policies?
Original Contributions: Has the nominee worked to support new legislation to benefit gifted children, developed training materials for staff development, initiated a new publication, or started new gifted programming for PreK-12 or at the university level?

Development of District-Wide Gifted Education Programming: Describe how the nominee has developed/expanded/improved a comprehensive continuum of aligned programming options based on best practices and evidence-based research and has provided services to meet the cognitive and affective needs of all students with gifts and talents.
Development of District-Wide Identification Practices: Describe how the nominee has instituted a district-wide identification process. Include how the process a) uses comprehensive identification policies and procedures that equitably identify students with gifts and talents, and b) provides opportunities for all students to demonstrate diverse characteristics and behaviors associated with giftedness.
Curriculum and Design: How has the nominee a) designed, developed, or adopted appropriate curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with gifts and talents.
