                • New Space - New Classes

This fall, I’m offering a wonderul series of watercolor classes in a great new space at our new home. The park we are living in has a clubhouse that we can use to paint in. It's an awesome space with great light and lots of room. There is a full kitchen with access to water, fridge, and microwave. With plenty of room to spread out and work on larger sheets of watercolour paper.

                    .

These classes are perfect for anyone looking to loosen up, try something new, or just spend a lovely day painting in great company. Each student will have their own 6 ft table. I will have drawings ready for you to use. If you don't have supplies don't worry for a small fee I will set you up with all the supplies you will need for each class. The Dive Into Watercolours class has everything supplied.

                • Hi everyone,

I’ve opened up my February watercolour classes, and I’m offering two focused series — one for complete beginners and one for intermediate painters ready to push their skills a little further. I have also added 4 Thursday afternoon painting animals, and Friday afternoon sessions where you can bring watercolours you would like to work on or need help with. I will help you finish up your painting.

                • Supply List for Intermediate Watercolour classes:

                  • Paint - Quinacridone Gold, Lemon Yellow, Magenta, Alizarin Crimson, & Phthalo Blue (red shade) and Payne's Grey.
                  • Brushes - #12 and #5 round
                  • Paper - 1 sheet of Arches or Fabriano 140# Cold Press, 22x30 inches
                  • Palette - I use a Robert Wood palette, but there are many different styles out there. You want one with lots of mixing room, don't get too small of a palette. Even plastic plates will work.
                  • Towel - I paint on a towel so you want one that is bigger than 11x15 inches.
                  • Water Container - I use small plastic food container

The supplies are included in Beginner Watercolour classes.

                • Thursdays – Beginner Watercolour Series
                  4 classes | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This series is designed for those who have never tried watercolour or are just getting started. I provide all supplies, so you can try the medium without the expense or confusion of buying materials right away. I’ll also share what’s worth investing in - and what is not - when you’re ready to build your own kit.

Over the four classes we’ll work through:
                  Gradation and controlling water
                  Negative painting
                  Painting simple animals
Pulling everything together into a complete painting

This is a supportive, no-pressure introduction to watercolour and a great way to build confidence from the ground up.

                  Cost: $50 per class

                  $75

Learn how to build a strong landscape while keeping your painting fresh and loose. We’ll explore simple composition, wet-into-wet washes, and special effects that add texture and atmosphere without overworking the paper.

Students will choose their own subject matter, and I will help guide you through:

Developing or refining a drawing (if needed)
                  Planning your painting
Working through the painting process step by step

Each class will begin with a short demo focused on a specific technique to help strengthen your work. This is very much a hands-on, guided studio-style class.

IN PERSON at the clubhouse at La Mesa, South Surrey

I like to mount some of my watercolours to cradle boards for a different effect, and then I don't have to use a mat board, glass and frame, they are ready to hang.

In this class I will be providing all the supplies you will need to mount your watercolour to a board. I work with a couple of different sizes of boards - 10x14, 5x7, 4x6 and 16x20. I will help you get your watercolour mounted and then we will press them overnight to dry. On the second day I will show you how to trim your watercolour and also how to put a finish on it for protection.

This is a fun class, and a great technique to learn how to finish your watercolours a different way.
