Saving Places Conference 2027

In 2027 we will be expanding the conversations we started in 2026 on the Preservation Workforce and trades training.

February 10-12, 2027

Colorado Preservation, Inc (CPI) proudly hosts the 30th annual Saving Places Conference in Denver, Colorado starting Wednesday, February 10th, 2027 through Friday, February 12th, 2027.

Do you have a proposal or an idea for a proposal that could support this broad theme? We would love to hear from you!

CPI strives to develop themes, titles, and messaging that encourages discussion around contemporary theories and practical applications, without excluding ideas that may not be directly related to the theme. As a result, please feel free to submit more foundational preservation sessions beyond the specifics of the theme. CPI looks forward to hosting a conference that fosters meaningful conversations and connections within the industry.

The 2027 conference has space for 30 sessions, 6 tours, 1-2 workshops and 5 featured speakers

Colorado Preservation, Inc's goal is to have content created for a hybrid event with live streaming of sessions during the conference.

All presentations will be scheduled for in-person attendees at the Doubletree by Hilton in Denver, Colorado. We are working to live-stream all sessions to our online attendees. All sessions will additionally be recorded for the conference library.

Short Description:
This 100-150 word description is the engaging and creative blurb that will be in the conference program. Think of this as a broad summary but presented as a "pitch" for why people should attend this session. Tip for a strong pitch: Remember attendees may have never heard of the concept/project you are talking about. Clearly and concisely communicate your description; we strongly recommend including what the lessons learned and/or "takeaways" will be for those that attend your presentation.
Expanded Description:
This description will be used in determining if your session will be selected for the conference. Describe in a few paragraphs to the content planning committee the full scope of the session, including using technical and industry language. Providing additional context to your preservation peers who will review your proposal could ensure your session is selected. The expanded description should clearly outline special project needs, material expenses, equipment, etc. Provide detail on the presentation format (panel presentation, case study, etc.). Tour descriptions should provide compelling detail on the tour site, historical significance of location, tour length or time range, and if bus transportation is needed.
Prerequisite Knowledge:
If your session will be an Intermediate or Advanced level class what information must students know before attending your session?
Session Outline:
What is the approximate flow of the presentation? How will your group use the 30 minutes, 75 minutes, 180 minutes, or an all-day format? How long for a speaker, for a group activity, etc.?
Will this session qualify for Continuing Education Credits?

Learning Objectives

Provide four practical learning objectives for attendees. Each objective should be 1-4 sentences. Learning objectives typically have three parts: • Behavior: What participants will be able to do upon successful completion of the session • Condition: The condition under which the participant will be able to perform the behavior • Criteria: The evaluation metric that will determine how well the behavior is performed under the correct conditions. **Please note this section is required if your session qualifies for AIA or AIA|HSW credits.**

Session Primary Point of Contact Information
Session primary points of contact are vital in the Conference execution as you will give a summary introduction to the session and introduce the speakers. You will also help moderate questions and chat during the session. Session primary points of contact are often also session speakers, but do not have to be.

The session primary point of contact agrees to coordinate session details, communicate with all session speakers, and communicate regularly with Colorado Preservation on the status of the session and session details. In short, the session primary point of contact takes ownership of the session.
