  • Individual BCTLA Grants Application Form

    Thank you for your interest in the BCTLA grants!  

    Here are some general BCTLA grant rules:

    • Applicant must be a current member of the BCTLA
    • Submit a separate application for each grant.  
    • The BCTLA Executive shall adjudicate applications for grants.
    • Grants may or may not be given annually by the BCTLA Executive Board and, may be presented at the annual BCTLA Conference, at the BCTLA AGM, or at another time if more suitable.
    • Grant applications should be submitted no later than September 15th.  
    • Only complete applications will be considered.
    • Applications shall be considered for only the year in which they are received.
    • Additional specific rules may apply depending upon the grant.  These rules may affect the eligibility of certain individuals for specific grants.

  • The British Columbia Teacher-Librarians' Association recognizes the need to further the professional development of a member of the BCTLA by giving Ken Haycock grants to be used for any credit or non-credit course, workshop, conference or program in the field of teacher-librarianship. This grant is not to exceed $500.00.

    Terms:

    • Use the grant monies within 12 months of presentation.
    • Submit an article for our newsletter
    • The maximum amount of this grant shall be the lesser of:

    (a) reimbursement for approved costs borne by the successful applicant; or

    (b) $500, which will be considered a full grant.

    • Receive payment of the grant monies upon proof of completion of the course, workshop, conference, or program; submission of costs; and submission of the article for the newsletter
  • The British Columbia Teacher-Librarians' Association recognizes the need to share the expertise of BCTLA members with other institutions, organizations and associations by giving a grant to be used to represent the BCTLA as a speaker/facilitator at a course, workshop, conference, or program other than the annual BCTLA conference. This grant is not to exceed $500.00.  Applicants must not already be receiving a fee, salary or honorarium for their speaking/facilitating services.

  • The British Columbia Teacher-Librarians' Association recognizes the need to further the professional development of a member or subscriber of the BCTLA by giving a grant to be used to attend the annual BCTLA Conference. This grant is not to exceed $500.00.

  • The British Columbia Teacher-Librarians' Association and Surrey BCTLA Chapter recognize the need to further support school reading for two members of the BCTLA, one Surrey Teacher-Librarian and one Teacher-Librarian from another district in BC, by giving two individual grants to plan an event that brings their school community together to share the joy of reading. This grant is not to exceed $400.00 per Teacher-Librarian.  The two Teacher-Librarians that receive this grant are encouraged to connect and collaborate as they plan their event.

  • The applicant must be a practicing or retired school- or district-based teacher-librarian
  • The applicant is a BCTLA member
  • The applicant is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and a resident of British Columbia
  • The applicant is not already receiving a fee, salary or honorarium for their speaking/facilitating services
  • Please note: at this time, your nominee may not be eligible to receive this grant. Please contact BCTLA regarding options.
