On behalf of the Center for Death Education, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your interest in serving on our Board of Directors.
Mission Statement: Our non-profit organization is dedicated to ensuring accurate information about death, dying, grief, and end-of-life care is accessible and affordable to all. Through live-streamed educational classes led by experienced professionals, we empower individuals to prepare for future experiences, reflect on past ones, and engage in open, meaningful conversations about death within their families and communities.
As a volunteer board member, you will be expected to:
• Participate in at least two online board meetings each year.
• Engage in fundraising efforts to support the Center for Death Education’s programs and initiatives.
• Fulfill the responsibilities associated with your selected position.
• Serve a minimum term of one year, with the option to renew (twice) for up to three additional years.
• Collaborate with fellow board members, the Executive Director, and other stakeholders to advance the mission of the Center for Death Education.
Leadership Structure:
Our Board of Directors consists of no fewer than four and no more than six voting members. Officer roles include President, Vice President (President-elect), Secretary, and Treasurer.
Primary Areas of Focus:
• Strategic planning for future growth and development.
• Marketing and outreach, including strengthening our social media presence.
Application and Selection Process:
We are seeking applicants who demonstrate the following:• Leadership Skills: Integrity, vision, and strategic thinking to help guide the Center for Death Education toward continued success.
• Communication Skills: The ability to listen actively, communicate clearly, and engage in constructive dialogue with fellow board members, stakeholders, and the broader community.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong critical thinking skills and the capacity to analyze information, address challenges, and contribute to innovative solutions.
• Social Media Experience: Skills in social media management or digital engagement are a valuable plus.
Selected candidates will participate in an interview with our Executive Director and current board members.
