Please be aware that despite applying for a specific position, after or during the interview process, HQ may recommend a different role than what you have applied for or a different role entirely. To clarify the names of the new positions: Hanhallah is for 3rd-6th year staff and is the most senior positions at camp. Senior Tzevet are for 2nd-4th year tzevet and will be in charge of smaller teams for more specific tasks at camp.
Menahel(et) (Camp Director) - Hanhallah
The person in this role will work alongside HQ to create a camp full of ruach and encompasses BBYO UK's values and programming framework in an exciting and innovative way. They will also ensure that MRIHA is well-practiced throughout the camp experience. The Menahel will also work with BBYO HQ to manage the set budget and oversee all camp teams.
Sgan(it) Menahel(et) - Hanhallah
The Sgan Menahel will report directly to the Menahel and work alongside them making big picture decisions and supporting the entire staff with vision and execution of programming. This role is designed to be mentored for the role of Shorashim 2027 Menahel(et).
Welfare Officer - Hanhallah
Ensuring that the welfare needs of all of our teens and tzevet are met. This includes safeguarding and wellness check-ins and conversations with anyone who needs, overseeing the wellness check lists of each Kvutzah leader regularly, and preferably can drive to camp so that it can be used for hospital/doctor visits.
Mazkir(ah) - Hanhallah
The Mazkir will support on all administrative and logistical aspects of camp, prior to delivery and throughout delivery.
Rosh Ha'Tochnit - Hanhallah
The person in this role will oversee the creation of a well rounded programme for every aspect of camp. They oversee the largest bulk of the tzevet - ensuring programming deadlines are met before delivery and that execution during delivery is to the highest possible standard according to BBYO values and the programming framework.
Sgan(it) Mazkir(ah) - Senior Tzevet
The Sgan Mazkir will work directly under the Mazkir, primarily in the role of providing extra support with coding and IT to make the logistical operations run with more efficiency - both before and throughout delivery. Will alternate with Mazkir to give enough break times.
Rosh Ha'Bama - Senior Tzevet
The person in this role will ensure that all programmes are well-equipped. This would mean overseeing the printing list and making sure everything is in the correct folders by the deadline, as well as checking in and out resources to ensure that we know that we have everything for each programme. They will work directly with the Mazkir and HQ.
Sgan Yahadut - Senior Tzevet
Overseeing the planning and execution of all Jewish programming and Jewish moments on camp. Reports to Rosh Hatochnit.
Sgan Hugim - Senior Tzevet
Overseeing the planning and execution of all games and activities at camp. Reports to Rosh Hatochnit.
Sgan Shabbat - Senior Tzevet
Overseeing and executing all of Shabbat programming from Kabbalat Shabbat through Havdallah. Reports to Rosh Hatochnit.
Rosh Hachanah - Senior Tzevet
Planning and executing a training programme for Y12's who are interested in next summer running Shorashim. Reports to Sgan Menahel
Medic - Senior Tzevet
In charge of the medications and medical well being of everyone at camp. Must be a student in medical school or a fully qualified medic. Reports to Welfare Officer
Tzevet Hatochnit
Being on the planning and executing team of various programmes at camp. Will be placed by the Rosh Hatochnit onto specific programming team. Works under the teams led by the sganim on senior tzevet.
Tzevet Habamah
Working directly under the Rosh Habamah and the Mazkir to ensure that the behind the scenes logistics of camp run smoothly. Reports to Rosh Habamah
Tzevet Tzilum
Responsible for photography, social media, blog posts, testimonials, and communications with parents and the wider BBYO community to show how amazing Shorashim is. Reports to Rosh Habamah
Tzevet Welfare
Working with the Welfare officer to follow up with teens with minor wellness concerns - anything amber or green in our incedents procedural form. Being available to deal with Welfare when the Welfare officer is unavailable. Floating around throughout camp to hear about potential wellness issues. Reports to Welfare Officer
