Register a Foal

What do you get for your fee?
You will receive the following services for your Foal Registration fee:

• A modern-looking Irish Warmblood passport.
• Free naming of your foal.
• A free prefix or suffix reserved exclusively for your use.
• Free parentage testing.
• Free WFFS1 test or determination for your filly.
• A Zootechnical Certificate attached to the passport.
• A laminated A4 Certificate of Registration & Pedigree.
• Up-to-date details of ownership, EPRN, food chain status, etc. in the DAFM Central Database and WSI's secure database.
• Free Active Membership for three years with the right to vote in WSI Annual Meetings on proposed revisions to Studbook Rules and Breeding Program.
• Eligibility to join the WSI Accredited Breeders Program. 
• All prices (except memberships) are inclusive of VAT at 23%.

By submitting this Register a Foal application, I agree to be bound by the Rules and Procedures of the Warmblood Studbook of Ireland. I attest that the foal is not registered with any other Passport Issuing Authority. I attest that the identifying veterinary surgeon checked for any previously implanted transponder before implanting a transponder. If a previously implanted transponder were found, I confirm that the equine has not been registered with any other Passport Issuing Organisation.

I irrevocably grant WSI ownership of my foal's DNA sample that I will or have submitted, and the resulting DNA profile. I give WSI the right to use the DNA sample and DNA profile for any purpose that benefits Irish Warmblood breeders. I give WSI permission to obtain and use the DNA profile of the foal's dam, and its sire, and I authorize the studbooks that control the DNA profile of these horses to share them with WSI. I give permission to the studbook and laboratory that control my mare’s profile to send the DNA profile to WSI for parentage testing of her progeny. I irrevocably grant to WSI ownership of that DNA profile, and the right to use the DNA profile for any purpose that benefits Irish Warmblood breeders. I am aware that the results of WFFS1 testing may be shared with DAFM National Breeding Services for research purposes. DAFM’s Equine Technical Support Scheme partially funds some WFFS1 testing.

I understand that to comply with the law, WSI must obtain, record, and store information about my name, postal address, email address, telephone number, and Equine Premises Registration Number. I understand that WSI must share this information with DAFM. This information must be held by WSI for a period of at least 35 years or at least 2 years from the date of communication of the equine’s death. Information about my foal will be held in perpetuity. 

For the sole purpose of payment for a Foal Registration, I consent to WSI obtaining my credit/debit card details for one-time processing of the fee. I understand that the credit/debit card details will not be recorded or stored by WSI. 

I understand that I have the right to access my information held by WSI, to have any inaccuracies corrected, and to have my information deleted if WSI is not required by the law to retain the information. I understand that I can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing the Studbook Administrator at admin@irish-warmblood.com and communicating my withdrawal of consent for WSI to hold any information except information that is required by law to be retained for the period mentioned above. 

WSI expects to receive partial support for 2026 WFFS1 testing from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Equine Technical Support (ETS) Scheme. The ETS Scheme is administered under the European Commission’s State aid regulations.
