The Joyce Marie Nichols Scholarship was founded in 2015 by Wendy Renee Nyee Nichols. This award is established in loving memory of her mother, Joyce Marie Nichols. The name Destiny `ReJOYCE`Foundation was derived from Joyce’s will to overcome adversity. Her daughter Wendy became the vessel in which she poured all her compassion, courage, and drive. Joyce raised her to have goals and to always treat adversity as a something that makes one stronger, but should not stop her from taking an active role in reaching her destiny. Even during Joyce’s most troubling times, she never gave up hope that her child would reach any goal she set and her life was destined for greatness. Joyce Marie Nichols applicants should embody the traits that Joyce Nichols instilled in Wendy; an abundant amount of ambition, creativity, empathy and leadership skills. Our mission is to promote higher education and increase the number of students who attend college while moving toward their destiny. This will be done by providing resources to assist with tuition and other miscellaneous costs. This honor was designed to bestow not only financial assistance, but mentorship as well. One of the goals of our foundation is to maintain an active relationship with the recipient beyond graduation. Destiny is not just what you do, but it is the embodiment of who you are, laying the foundation for who you will become. This year has proven that resilience during adversity equals success.
