Grammar, spelling, and stylistic refinement
Structural or organizational suggestions (e.g., improving clarity or flow)

In all cases, the author remains solely responsible for:

2. Prohibited Uses of AI
The following uses of AI tools are not permitted for Sentinel Journal submissions:
- Generating original analytical arguments
- Drafting substantive sections of the manuscript
- Creating or fabricating citations or footnotes
- Paraphrasing source material in a way that obscures original authorship
- Producing text intended to substitute for the author’s own scholarly reasoning
- Any use that would reasonably misrepresent authorship or intellectual contribution
- Manuscripts found to rely on AI-generated substantive content may be desk rejected without review.
3. Disclosure Requirement
All authors must disclose AI use at the time of submission, including:
the type of AI tool(s) used, and
the specific manner in which they were used.
Failure to disclose AI use accurately or completely constitutes a violation of Sentinel Journal’s submission ethics.
4. Peer Review Considerations
Editors and peer reviewers may consider disclosed AI use when assessing:
originality,
methodological rigor,
coherence of argumentation, and
suitability for publication.
Sentinel Journal reserves the right to request clarification, revisions, or additional documentation related to AI usage at any stage of review.
5. Author Responsibility and Enforcement
AI tools cannot be listed as authors, co-authors, or contributors.
Authors affirm that:
all intellectual claims are their own,
AI tools did not replace scholarly judgment, and
the manuscript represents original academic work.
Violations of this policy may result in:
- rejection or withdrawal of the manuscript,
- prohibition from future submissions, and
- notification to affiliated institutions in cases of serious ethical breach.
6. Policy Evolution
This policy reflects current academic standards and may be updated as AI technologies and scholarly norms evolve. Authors are responsible for complying with the policy in effect at the time of submission.
