Locust Street Art has an opening for one volunteer studio intern.
Position: Volunteer Studio Intern (Unpaid)
Hours: We are looking for someone who can volunteer for 4-6 hours a week during our current class schedule.
Current Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00pm-7:00pm, Saturdays 12:30pm-5:30pm
Compensation: This is a volunteer position.
Description:
We are looking for a volunteer studio intern to help with studio maintenance, cleaning, and some assistant instructing in exchange for access to our pottery wheels, tools, and kiln. The intern is responsible for supplying their own clay and glazes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Interest and/or experience in handbuilding, wheel throwing, and kiln operation
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
- Demonstrated good time management skills
- Ability to work comfortably with different age groups and diverse student populations
- Teaching experience is a plus
- Reliable transportation
- This position is for individuals ages 18+. Minors will not be considered for the internship.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the Ceramics Instructor with day to day duties
- May help with kiln loading and unloading, clay reclaim, cleaning and organizing, act as classroom aid to the instructor
- Maintain communication with management about tasks, scheduling, and supplies
- Setup and cleanup of classroom spaces as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Lifting, bending, standing, and walking
