To the Leadership of Seattle Children's Hospital,
We, the undersigned Respiratory Therapy staff, are formally expressing our extreme frustration regarding the lack of transparency in our internal hiring processes and the ongoing inability to promote due to a lack of available positions.
The current environment lacks the clear professional trajectory promised to us. To rectify this breach of trust and ensure the retention of skilled clinicians, we call on the hospital to take the following immediate actions:
- Leadership Training: Provide comprehensive training for department leadership on the specific institutional hiring guidelines to ensure consistency and fairness.
- Clear Expectations: Finalize and provide staff with comprehensive job descriptions and performance expectations for all roles.
- Career Ladder Implementation: Develop a transparent career ladder that clearly defines the requirements for advancement from RT I to RT II and RT II to RT III.
- Financial Commitment: Fully fund the career ladder proposal.
