DC 37 Lillian Roberts Scholarship for Continuing Education Guidelines

Eligibility Requirements

The applicant must be an active member of DC 37 currently enrolled in their first or second year of a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree. This scholarship is for active members only.

The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited institution, located in the United States, at the time of award. While not required to be submitted with the scholarship application, no awards will be distributed until a current bursar's receipt from the accredited college or university has been provided to the committee.

Application Instructions

All applications must be submitted online by Friday, May 29, 2026. Please double check that you have included all of the items requested in the Application Checklist. Once you begin, you will not be able to save your progress on this application to come back and complete it at a later date and you may only submit your application ONCE.

Short Essay Instructions

Two typed essays, written by the applicant, of no more than 250 words each. You will be required to upload each essay as part of your application. Specific essay topics are listed further in the application.

Scholarship Scoring

Scholarship applications will be scored based on the following criteria:
- Professional and Academic Achievement (10%)
- Activities and Leadership (10%)
- Academic and Professional Goals/Plans (20%)
- Short Essays (60%)

Reminder that applications must be submitted online by Friday, May 29, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered. Scholarship recipients will be notified via email no later than June 12th, 2026.

Describe why you are continuing your education. Did you want to pursue a career change or is there an issue in society that you would like to make a difference in? Perhaps there are some personal motivations that inspired you to take on this new challenge in your life.
