2026 THEME: Colors of the River
Rivers are more than water—they are stories in motion.
For this year’s Art on Main: Chalk & Artisan Festival, Colors of the River invites artists to explore the many ways waterways shape a place, a people, and a moment in time. While inspired by the Cotee River and surrounding waters of New Port Richey, interpretations do not need to be literal or scenic.
Artists are encouraged to think broadly and creatively—drawing inspiration from:
Movement, flow, and reflection
History, memory, and cultural connection
Color palettes inspired by water, sky, and shoreline
Abstract interpretations of rhythm, emotion, or time
Stories that rivers carry—past, present, or imagined
The river as a symbol of life, transition, creativity, or community
Your chalk canvas can reflect history, imagination, abstraction, or personal storytelling—whether that’s a vibrant burst of color, a dreamlike scene, symbolic imagery, or a narrative inspired by water’s influence on art, culture, and human connection.
This theme is meant to be expressive, inclusive, and interpretive—a starting point rather than a limitation. Let the “river” guide your creativity in whatever direction it flows.
