Scholarship Criteria

All criteria are the same unless otherwise noted under the specific scholarship:

Albert Burks, Jr. Presidential Scholarship ($5,000)

Life's Journey Memorial Scholarship ($5,000) - 4 Scholarships available

Robert Faulk Basley Memorial Scholarship ($2,500)

and Give Back Book Scholarship ($2,000)

• Black or African American
• Demonstrate financial need
• Good academic standing with 2.0 GPA (unweighted)
• Community service and/or Extra-curricular activity involvement
• Must submit a letter of recommendation from school counselor
• Submit a 300-500 word essay

Yates Chisolm Legacy Scholarship ($6,000)

• Resident of South Carolina
• Must attend a HBCU or Clemson University

C & J Legacy Scholarship ($4,000 - $1K/year, renewable for 4 years) 

• Must be a resident of Pennsylvania or Arkansas

Willie & Robertha Bloodworth Legacy Scholarship ($2,500)

• Resident of New York or Georgia

Butch & Stella Jackson Legacy Scholarship ($2,000)

• Resident of New York
• First Generation College Student

Ronald Scott Morris Memorial Scholarship ($2,000)

• Resident of Texas, Georgia, DC, West Virginia, Virginia or Ohio

Letter of Recommendation Requirement 

As part of the Look Back Give Back Foundation Scholarship application, a letter of recommendation must be submitted directly by your counselor.

Important requirements you must understand before proceeding:

• You are required to personally notify your counselor that you have listed them as your recommender for this scholarship.
• Students may NOT submit their own letters of recommendation.  Any letter uploaded by a student will not be accepted.
• Once you submit your scholarship application, your counselor will automatically receive a secure email link allowing them to upload the letter directly into your application file.
• Your scholarship application will remain INCOMPLETE until your counselor submits the recommendation letter through the provided link.
• It is your responsibility to follow up with your counselor to confirm that the letter has been submitted by the deadline; however, you will receive a confirmation email when your application has been updated with your counselor's letter of recommendation.
• By listing a counselor below, you acknowledge that you have informed them of this responsibility and understand that failure to ensure timely submission of the recommendation letter may result in your application being deemed incomplete and ineligible for review.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions/ Certification and Release Authorization:

I/We certify that this information is complete and accurate.  I/We authorize the release of this information to confirm and/or verify this application.  I/We further grant unto Look Back Give Back Foundation, Inc., the right to use my name and likeness in connection with the promotion of the Look Back Give Back Foundation's Scholarship Program on, but not limited to, our website, email distribution, and social media platforms.  I also consent, that if chosen as a scholarship finalist, I will participate in the virtual scholarship committee interview.  I pledge to "pay it forward: by mentoring another young student once I graduate college.

I certify that I meet the eligibility criteria for the Look Back Give Back Scholarship Program, and have attached my college/university letter of acceptance, essay submission, and 1 letter of recommendation.  I understand that applications that are incomplete, late or not submitted in accordance with directions will be ineligible for consideration.  

I hereby apply for the Look Back Give Back Scholarship Program.  I understand if I am selected to receive one of the scholarships, Look Back Give Back Foundation has no legal liabiity or oblligation to me other than the payment of the Scholarship Award on my behlaf to the accredited school listed above.  I further understand that if I choose not to enroll after payment of the Scholarship, I am responsible to notify my school and notify Look Back Give Back Foundation of my decision.
