Position Overview
The Family Support Worker is a grant-funded, contract position supporting families through the Tiny Essentials Relief Hub. This role provides direct, relationship-based support during public Relief Hub service days and completes administrative and documentation tasks on non-public days. The Family Support Worker plays a key role in ensuring families feel welcomed, respected, and supported through prevention-focused, essentials-based care.
Contractors are paid based on submitted timesheets, which serve as invoices. Payment is issued within approximately 15–30 days of invoice submission, in accordance with grant reimbursement timelines.
This position is funded through June 2026, with the possibility of extension contingent upon program needs and available grant funding. Individuals in this role will receive advance notice regarding any potential extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage families during in-person Relief Hub service days
- Facilitate brief, strengths-based conversations focused on family well-being
- Support intake and exit assessments using program tools
- Coordinate with administrative staff and Relief Hub interns
- Support the distribution and tracking of essential baby items
- Complete required documentation, data entry, and administrative tasks
- Participate in planning, preparation, and follow-up activities
- Follow all program protocols, confidentiality standards, and safety procedures
Schedule & Time Commitment
The Family Support Worker role requires availability for at least five (5) hours on public Relief Hub service days. While the Hub is closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the role requires availability for administrative and program-related work between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on those days (remote/work from home).
This position requires a commitment of up to 30 hours per week.
Relief Hub Public Schedule
Mondays: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Thursdays: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Fridays: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Occasional Saturdays: Community events (with advance notice)
Contractor Status & Employment Terms
- This is a 1099 independent contractor position
- This role is grant-funded and time-limited through June 2026
- No employment benefits are provided, including health, medical, or paid leave
- Contractors are responsible for managing their own taxes and withholdings
- Scheduling changes or absences must be communicated in advance
Insurance Requirement
Individuals selected for this role will be required to maintain their own professional liability insurance for the duration of the contract. Linked Family Services may recommend providers such as Healthcare Providers Service Organization (HPSO); however, securing and maintaining coverage is the responsibility of the contractor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Public Health, Family Studies, Sociology, Education, or a related field
- Recent college graduates encouraged to apply, particularly those seeking hands-on experience in family support or community-based services
- Experience (paid, volunteer, academic, or lived) working with families, children, or communities preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Organized, dependable, and respectful
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred
