Maureen Nalle Memorial Graduate Nursing Scholarship Application

The TNF Maureen Nalle Memorial Graduate Nursing Scholarship is an educational scholarship for eligible Registered Nurses in Tennessee who are continuing their education in graduate studies. This scholarship is provided through TNF’s fundraising programs, and contributions to the fund are tax-deductible. Scholarships are awarded once each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) in the amount of $5000.

Applicants must complete this application, and have satisfactory references (one from a current TNA member), and agree to the terms of this scholarship request. A personal interview with the applicant may be requested by the Tennessee Nurses Foundation Board of Trustees.

Please have your transcript, a letter indicating good standing from either your Advisor/Program Director, Dean, or Director, and all reference letters ready prior to beginning this application. All recommendation or reference letters must have a handwritten signature. Typed signatures in a cursive font do not qualify.

Unique letters are required for each upload as outlined in the "Required Uploads" section below. Duplicate letters will not be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must be currently enrolled in a program of study in an accredited institution of higher education that would enable the nurse to make a greater contribution to the profession.
Applicant must not be in their last semester of graduate study with no outstanding tuition balance.
Applicant must have been a continuous member of the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) for at least one year prior to the scholarship application.
Applicant shall be a resident of or employed in Tennessee.
Current TNF and TNA Board members and their immediate family (spouse, children, grandchildren) are not eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria

Applications are reviewed yearly. The submission deadline for each academic year is March 31. Preference shall be given to the following:

Financial need
Leadership potential
Sustained active TNA membership (see #3 above)

Scholarship Funding Distribution

All scholarship funds are sent directly to the nursing school to which the recipient is attending and are to be applied toward tuition only. Scholarship funds must be used in the current semester the recipient is attending or the following two semesters. Should there be a remaining balance, those funds will be reimbursed by the nursing school to the Tennessee Nurses Foundation. Scholarship funds are not sent directly to the recipient.
