  • German Village Farmers Market Rules and Regulations 2026

     

    All vendors must pay in advance for participation in the German Village Farmers Market (GVFM)

     

    Applying does not ensure acceptance. GVFM will notify you if are accepted.

     

    Weekly rates are $25 per space of $450 for the season. Additional spaces are available at $20 per week. Seasonal vendors may pay in full or halves. Vendors with select dates must pay in full by 4/18.

     

    Payments will be online via Square. We are a rain or shine market. No refunds will be given for rain days or illness.

     

    Vendors who are a no show/no call will not be invited to return to the market. 48 hours notice must be given for a missed Saturday.

     

    Changes to your schedule must be texted or emailed in advance.

     

    Dates may be added with advance notice at $25 a week.

     

    Vendors are to sell what they produce. All produce must be grown in Ohio.

     

    With prior approval of the advisory committee, vendors may be allowed to sell a portion of produce grown by others to allow for a sharing of resources and cooperation among neighboring growers. Vendors must post clear signage within their alloted space identifying the source of their products.

     

    Produce purchased wholesale is strictly prohibited.

     

    Homemade baked goods, cheeses, jams, etc are permitted provided the processed foods have met all state and local regualations.

     

    Prepared food items are required by the Department of Agriculture to be marked with all ingredients used, along with the name and full address of the maker.

     

    Sales of single serving prepared food items that are not packaged and labeled are not permitted. However, samples are permitted if maintained at the proper temperature.

     

    Not permitted: food prepared on premises, flea market or garage sale items, direct sale items.

     

    All items sold must be listed on application.

     

    Vendors are to set their own prices.

     

    Vendors must carry a standard million dollar liability policy listing German Village Farmers Market as additionally insured. Proof of liability insurance is to be submitted with registration materials.

     

    Electricity and refridgeration are not proved at the market.

     

    Vendors are to bring their own tents, tables and chairs. Tents and tent weights are required.

     

    Vendors are to provide their own rain gear, as we are a rain or shine market. Tent walls are encouraged if need be.

     

    In the events of lightning or extreme weather, market activities may be suspended at the discretion of the market manager. No fees will be refunded.

     

    Vendors with seasonal reservations will have first priority for location assignments.

     

    The market manager will assign vendor spots, given consideration to the variety of items. Emails will go out every Thursday with pertinent information or spot changes.

     

    Vendors are asked to be at the market by 8:15. Please be completely set up by 8:45 am and please stay until 1 pm. Vendors arriving after 8:30 will incur a late fee of $10 and will not be allowed to set up again until it is paid.

     

    Vendors are not permitted to smoke, play music, or call out to customers. 

     

    Vendors are to clean up their space or any paper or garbage before leaving. Please leave the space in the condition you found it. Please bring trash home with you from samples, etc.

     

    It is the vendors responsibility to obtain all permits and licenses, in addition to paying fees required by the local and state governments. This includes the vendors licenses for goods sold for which a sales tax must be collected. A copy must be on display at each market you attend. 

     

    Organic farmers are encouraged to display their certification. Farmers may not sell under the organic name without certification.

     

    Sales must be approved by the department weights and measures. Please be prepared to provide documentation.

     

    Vendors must comply with all laws, ordinances and regulations of the United States, State of Ohio , Franklin County and the City of Columbus. 

     

    Vendors agree to protect organizers from legal or financial liability in case of accidents or incidents at the market. 

     

    Security is not provided; however, the Columbus police department is within close proximity to the market.

     

    Questions, concerns or grievences are to be directed to the market manager for resolution. Speaking to customers about vendors in a negative way will not be tolerated and may be grounds for asking you to leave the market.

     

    Childeren and dogs are welcome at the market, but both must be closely watched. If either run free at the market or on Third street you will be asked to leave immediatley and not invited back.
