  • Prairie Flower is a spring camping event for current 4th through 12th grade troops from all River Valleys Communities. It is a weekend encampment focused on outdoor ccoking and camping, tenting and limited building options, crafts, skill building, and connecting with sister Girl Scouts. DATES: May 15, 16, 17 2026 at Camp Lakamaga.

    Registrations cannot be accepted before January 20th and are taken on a first come first served basis.  Registration closes when the event is full or when the March mandatory meeting takes place.

  • Please enter the number of girls in each grade.

  • OUTDOOR SKILLS

    Prairie Flower has a focus on Outdoor Skills.  All indoor kitchen facilities are off limits and troops are expected to prepare and eat their meals outdoors.  Additionally, tent camping is strongly encourage - this is an opportunity to try it out surrounded by others with experience and with access to backup facilities in case of bad weather.  As such it is expected that you have at least one adult attending with knowlege and experience in: 

    • Outdoor program activities and leadership
    • Emotional responses to trips, including homesickness
    • Safety management
    • Program activities specific to the trip
    • Outdoor cooking activities and leadership, including dishwashing, food storage, sanitation, menu planning, and level-appropriate cooking methods
    • Outdoor skills necessary to lead the group
    • Judgment and maturity
    • Group dynamics and management
    • Supervision of Girl Scouts and adults

    Health and Safety

    There is an upcoming Training that will go over all of these skills if you are new, or would like a refresher. Fire, Food & Fun: Learn it Here, Lead it Anywhere - May 2, 2026.  Cost is $10

  • In order to ensure that all leaders and troops are fully prepared for camp, we have a Mandatory Leader meeting in March.  Every troop is expected to have at least 1 adult attend one of the 2 meeting options.  These are in person trainings.  If you have a conflict and cannot come, you are expected to reach out to the Prairie Flower team to make arrangements.

    This meeting takes place at the Brooklyn Center Girl Scout office.  5601 Brooklyn Blvd.  Brooklyn Center, MN 55429.

  • Cinnamon Rolls to go for Breakfast

    We are offering freshly baked cinnamon rolls to go for either Saturday morning, Sunday morning or both.  They will cost $1 each.  Please indicate the number you would like for each morning.

  • Financial Assistance Available

    Second Winds Alumni Group is offering limited financial aid for girls or troops who need assistance.  If you are interested in finding out more information, please check the box below and we will follow up.  This request will be kept confidential, being shared only with the Prairie Flower Committee and the Second Winds counterparts.

  • Payment in full will be due By March 31st. 

    You can pay at the In person leader meeting in March either with check/cash/credit.   You can mail payment to:
