    • Directions
    • ithin the pastoral charge, the basic unit in the connectional system in the Global Methodist Church is the Charge Conference. The Charge Conference shall therefore be organized from the church(es) in every pastoral charge and shall meet at least annually. The charge conference shall be the connecting link between the local church and the annual conference, and the general church and shall have general oversight of the church council(s) overall ministry of the local church (¶¶438-439 of the BoDD).

The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe. The South Georgia Annual Conference serves in this mission as it facilitates the mission of the local church. To facilitate this mission and assist in the healthy function and accountability of the local church, you will find below a streamlined Charge Conference report form requesting the minimal required information by the Annual Conference.

Charge Conference this year has two primary components:

      #1  Charge Conference Online Form
#2  Charge Conference In-Person Gathering with Presiding Elder (Individual churches or groups of churches)

      CHARGE CONFERENCE ONLINE FORM

The information in this online form MUST be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to your in-person Charge Conference scheduled by your Presiding Elder.  After you submit the form, the submitter's and pastor's email in the form will receive an email with a Complete form attachment which you can print for your attendees of your charge conference. Your Presiding Elder will also be notified and provided a copy of your submission for their review.

      CHARGE CONFERENCE IN-PERSON GATHERING

Each church will be scheduled for an in-person Charge Conference by your Connectional Community Presiding Elder.  At your Charge Conference meeting, copies of the submitted form should be provided to Charge Conference members so they may be informed prior to the appropriate votes required by the BoDD. In addition to providing this information at your Charge Conference, you should also include information that should be reported as required by the Book of Doctrine and Discipline.

At the completion of the Charge Conference session, the appropriate members of the Charge Conference (or their delegates) must sign the Charge Conference Minutes forms (included in your completed Online Form) and will be collected by your Presiding Elder at the end of the Charge Conference.

    • Insurance Covenant

The delegates to Annual Conference 2026 approved the following resolution.
    • Annual Conference 2026 approved Resolution #2 Insurance Covenant listed in the 2026 Conference Journal which states, "Thanks to the excellent work done by the Conference Finance Committee’s Task Force on Insurance and the wisdom discerned through Holy Conferencing of the body we the churches of the South Georgia Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church move to replace the paused resolution passed at the 2025 Annual Conference with the following resolution.

As an act of prudence and wise stewardship of the movement God has entrusted to us, the GMC congregations in SGA covenant together to mutually agree on minimum standards which all congregations seeking to be in our connection must adhere to for the good of all.

To ensure covenantal alignment regarding insurance, we agree that all SGA GMC Congregations are required to have adequate insurance. Local Church Trustees determine what is adequate and at what levels for their local context, but adequate insurance must include but is not limited to:

      1. General Liability
           a. Pastoral Counseling Liability (if not included in General Liability)
           b. Sexual Misconduct & Abuse Liability (if not included in general liability)
           c. Religious Freedom/ Expression Liability (if not included in general liability)
      2. Directors and Officers (D&O)
      3. Employment Practices Liability (EPLI)
      4. Workers’ Compensation

Where possible and applicable the church’s liability policies shall list the “The South Georgia Annual Conference of the GMC, Inc.” and the “Connectional Council of the Global Methodist Church, Inc.” as additional insureds.

Congregations which fail to comply with this covenant will be held accountable in an atmosphere of grace, with the goal of restoring covenantal alignment, strengthening relationships, and advancing our shared mission. If compliance cannot be obtained the congregation can be removed from the connection by a simple majority vote of the Annual Conference."

    • Is your church in compliance with the Insurance Covenant?*
    • Covenant of Care

The delegates to Annual Conference 2026 approved the following resolution.
    • The South Georgia Annual Conference is committed to providing safe ministry environments that protect children, youth, and vulnerable adults in every Conference and local church setting. To strengthen that commitment, the Conference appointed a task force to review existing policies and practices and recommend improvements. The task force developed a Covenant of Care Policy for the South Georgia Annual Conference and a Covenant of Care Policy Template for Local Churches. The Connectional Council has reviewed these documents and recommends their adoption. These policies replace the MinistrySafe resolution adopted by the 2025 Annual Conference (Section VIII.2 of the Conference Policies and Procedures).

The South Georgia Annual Conference therefore adopts the Covenant of Care Policy for the South Georgia Annual Conference and incorporates it into the Conference Policies and Procedures, effective immediately.

The Connectional Council shall provide the Covenant of Care Policy Template for Local Churches to every member church and require each local church to review, adopt, and implement either the template or another policy that meets or exceeds the minimum standards established in the Covenant of Care Policy Template for Local Churches.

Visit this link to view the policy template and covenant requirements.  https://www.sgagmc.org/covenantofcare

The Connectional Council may amend the Conference Covenant of Care Policy by majority vote as needed.

The Covenant of Care Committee shall review any modified or alternative local church policies to ensure they meet or exceed the minimum standards established in the Covenant of Care Policy Template for Local Churches.

      Rationale
The Covenant of Care policies affirm the South Georgia Annual Conference’s commitment to creating safe ministry environments and protecting children, youth, and vulnerable adults in every Conference ministry, event, and local church.
