Background of the ACLC Medal of Merit:
The Army Cadet Medal of Merit marks a significant update to the Army Cadet League of Canada's (ACLC) awards, reflecting the dynamic spirit of today's Army Cadet Program. This prestigious medal honours exceptional youth for their dedication and recognizes the inspiring leaders of the League.
Starting in 2025, the League aims to recognize nearly 130 outstanding Army Cadets annually, highlighting those who embody the values of the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Program, particularly during their Silver, Gold, and Advanced learning levels.
It proudly carries forward the legacy of League members and volunteers committed to shaping the future of Canada’s youth.
The criteria for the President's Medal of Merit are:
- Any Army Cadet who is enrolled in Advanced Training in the nominating training year, who can remain in a position to be an Army Cadet up until 1 May of the preceding award year;
- Achieved the minimum rank of Master Warrant Officer;
- Be nominated by the Corps Support Committee Chair and the Corps Commanding Officer.

Nomination packages shall consist of:
1. Cadet Training Records (Cadet Information Card with redacted personal information if required)
2. Letter of nomination that demonstrates how the nominee fulfills all criteria by the Corps Commanding Officer
3. Letter of nomination that demonstrates how the nominee fulfills all criteria by the Corps Support Committee chairperson
4. Letter of Recommendation from an independent organization (a school official, municipal leader, etc) who may speak about the nominee's performance outside the cadet program.
