6-Week Civic Engagement Course

Learn about municipal structure, finance, laws, planning, and more.

Identify and Develop projects, budget, funding

The Workshops are free and open to ages 12-and-up and you must be a City of Charlestown resident. The location for courses will be the Charlestown Public Library (51 Clark Road). Registered participants are committing to all six sessions.

SCHEDULE OVERVIEW:

Thursday, Jan. 29 – Introduction to Municipal Structure and Jurisdiction

Thursday, Feb. 5 – Municipal Finance – Revenue Sources and Rules

Thursday, Feb. 12 – Challenge Accepted – Identify four goals based on feedback from comprehensive planning process

Thursday, Feb. 19 – Group Work – Narrow projects to action items, set project budget, identify possible funding sources

Thursday, Feb. 26 – Group Work – Project review and assessment (legal review, process planning)

Thursday, March 5 – Group Presentations
