Use this as a general guide for the next question. *Depending upon the make-up of the campers & participating staff, sometimes there is a need to combine roles*
We try our best to assign roles based on skill set and interest so the #1 focus during camp can be on the campers.
Cabin therapist - this role is for therapists who have an interest in spending the majority of the day with 1 assigned cabin. ideally this therapist has a strong understanding of sensory diets, relationship-based programming, and sound therapy training. this most often is the role which therapists fill the first year after being a practicum.
Wonderlab therapist - this role is for therapists who have an interest in spending part of the day in the wonderlab and have a strong background in sensory integration treatment.
Leader or support for a program - the leader role is for anyone who has an expertise in the program area (and ideally has worked at camp a number of times). the support role is for anyone who has a strong interest in this area and may prefer being connected to a program versus a cabin.
Clinical support therapist - this role is for veteran Avanti therapists who are no longer interested in being a cabin, wonderlab, or program therapist AND have extensive training in sensory integration treatment, clinical reasoning, and can support a cabin family (or 2) in their daily assessment and planning for individual campers.
Body work/Craniosacral - this role is for anyone who has extensive training in body work and/or CST and wants to spend half to full days doing body work
Medical - this role is for physicians and nurses
Newsletter & media - this role is for anyone who has a strong interest or skill set in assembling the daily newsletter and/or documenting the camp year via photos & videos.
