• Studio Policies & Enrollment Agreement

    The Val Larsen Music Studio
  • Welcome to the studio! I’m so excited to teach you and/or your child. Teaching brings me great joy, and I love helping students grow in confidence, discipline, and artistry. Music is a universal language, and I’m grateful to be part of your musical journey.

  • Semester Structure & Tuition

  • The studio operates on a semester-based enrollment model to support consistency and long-term growth. Enrollment is per semester and includes weekly private lessons, enrichment opportunities, and performance events.

    Semesters:

    • Winter (Jan–Apr): Parent-Teacher Conference, Weekly Lessons, Group Masterclass, Recital
    • Summer (May–Aug): Parent-Teacher Conference, Weekly Lessons, Career Fair Masterclass, Guest Teacher Masterclass, Group Masterclass, Recital
    • Fall (Sept–Dec): Parent-Teacher Conference, Weekly Lessons, Group Masterclass, Recital

Enrollment reserves a priority weekly lesson time for the full semester. Tuition reflects ongoing instruction and professional availability and is not based on attendance or a guaranteed number of lessons.

Tuition increases of approximately 5% may occur annually to account for inflation and operating costs.

  • Tuition and Payment

  • Tuition & Payment
    Tuition is charged per semester

    Payment options:

    • Pay in full at semester start (Card or ACH), or
    • 4 equal monthly auto-pay installments (Card or ACH)
    • Tuition options and amounts can be found at TheValLarsen.com

Monthly payments are a payment plan, not month-to-month enrollment

Invoices are sent one week prior to the due date

A 3-day grace period is provided; thereafter a $10 late fee applies

  • Student Cancellations & Make-up Lessons

    • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are late and not eligible for makeup or credit
    • Each student is granted one sick or emergency late cancellation per semester, eligible for makeup within the same term, subject to availability
    • Additional emergency late cancellations are understood but not eligible for makeup
    • Makeup credits must be arranged within 2 weeks of the missed lesson and may be scheduled anytime within the semester
    • No tuition deductions for vacations or planned absences

If a student is late or experiences a technical issue, they must call or text immediately. If no contact is made within 10 minutes of the lesson start time, the lesson is considered a late cancellation with no makeup provided.

  • Teacher Cancellations & Schedule Changes

  • Teacher cancellations due to illness or emergency will result in a makeup credit. Other cancellations may be made up, credited, or refunded. Occasional schedule adjustments may occur due to performance commitments; advance notice will be given whenever possible.

  • Calendar & Withdrawal

  • Scheduled studio breaks (winter, spring, and summer) are built into tuition and are not eligible for makeup or credit.
Withdrawal must be submitted before the next semester begins. Tuition is non-refundable once a semester starts.

  • Lessons, Practice & Portals

    • All students/parents must access My Music Staff by the first lesson of each semester
    • Weekly recorded practice receives a letter grade
    • Practice goals are set collaboratively; unrecorded practice does not count
    • Students earning an A average receive a studio prize
    • Parent/Student-Teacher Conferences occur during the first week of each semester
  • Lesson Recordings & Media

  • Lessons are recorded for educational purposes and studio marketing with consent. Recordings are accessible via the Student Portal. In-lesson videos will never be shared without prior permission. Students may opt out.

The studio may share photos or short video clips on social media and via email. No full names are used—only first initial and last name for shout-outs. Consent is optional. If granted, photos must be submitted by the first week of lessons.

  • Additional Policies

    • Singer Track Policy: One new song/track per month is included. Additional tracks may incur a fee starting at $25.
    • Student Expenses: Instruments, books, internet, apps, devices, and other learning tools are the student’s responsibility.
