We will prepare your federal and requested state income tax returns based on the information you provide. While we do not perform a formal audit or forensic review, we will request clarification and supporting documents as needed to verify items such as income, expenses, residency, and dependent eligibility.
To assist in gathering complete information, we will provide questionnaires or worksheets. Using these tools helps reduce the risk of missing relevant details that may impact your return.
We may provide bookkeeping assistance if needed to complete the return. Additional bookkeeping services, if required, will be billed separately.
We will use our professional judgment in areas where tax law is unclear or where different interpretations exist. Unless otherwise instructed, we will resolve such questions in your favor whenever legally permissible.
Your Responsibilities as Taxpayer
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information, including all sources of income, deductions, credits, and dependent information, in a timely manner. You must retain all documents that support the entries on your tax return, such as receipts, canceled checks, logs, and proof of residency or support for dependents.
We reserve the right to exclude deductions or credits that cannot be verified with sufficient documentation. You are also responsible for reviewing your tax returns before signing. Your signature confirms that all information is true, correct, and complete to the best of your knowledge.
IRS/State Review and Notice Handling
Your returns may be selected for review by the IRS or state taxing authorities. Any adjustments proposed by those agencies may be subject to appeal.
If you receive a tax notice related to a return we prepared, you may forward it to us. We will review it and, if you request assistance in responding, a notice handling fee of $75–$150 will apply depending on complexity.
Representation before the IRS or state agencies is not included in standard tax preparation services and requires a separate engagement and authorization.
Penalties and Legal Disclosures
Federal and state laws impose penalties for underreporting income or claiming unsupported deductions. If you have questions about the potential penalties that may apply to your situation, we will be happy to discuss them.
Fees and Payment Terms
Our fees are based on the complexity of your return and the forms required. Fees may vary and are not determined by the individual preparer. All invoices are due upon presentation and must be paid before your returns will be filed or delivered.
If you choose to have your fees deducted from your refund and the funds are not received, you remain responsible for full payment. Unpaid fees will be billed after 120 days and are due immediately. Fees cover preparation only and are not contingent on your refund amount or timing.
