  • Handmade University Space Rental/Workshop Proposal

    Handmade U is a creative studio built around learning, making, and meaningful connection. We welcome instructors, artists, and creative entrepreneurs who are interested in hosting their own workshops or classes in our space. This application helps us learn more about you, your class idea, and how it aligns with our studio mission. We review each submission thoughtfully to ensure it can be a great experience in our space.

  • Becoming a Crafty Professor

  • By clicking SUBMIT, I understand that I am submitting a workshop proposal for review.

    If my proposal is not approved, Handmade U will notify me via email within 30 days.

    If my proposal is approved, Handmade U will send an acceptance email within 30 days that includes:

    • An Independent Contractor Agreement
    • A W9 request
    • Any required background clearances

    My workshop date is not confirmed until the contract is signed and returned.

    Once my contract is executed, I understand that:

    • I will serve as an independent contractor for Handmade U.
    • I am not an employee of Handmade U.
    • I will receive 50% of the course fee and 100% of the materials fee.
    • Handmade U will manage registration and payment collection.
    • I am responsible for paying all self employment and income taxes on earnings received.
    • I am responsible for maintaining records and receipts for my own tax purposes.
    • If I earn $600 or more in a calendar year, I will receive a Form 1099 and Handmade U is required to report those earnings to the IRS.

    I understand that compensation is based on final enrollment and agreed pricing.

  • Renting Space

  • By clicking SUBMIT, I understand that I am submitting a studio rental request for review.

    If my request is not approved, Handmade U will notify me via email within 5 business days.

    If my request is approved, Handmade U will reach out for more details and then send a rental agreement outlining rental terms, payment requirements, and studio policies.

    My rental date is not confirmed until:

    • The rental agreement is signed and returned
    • The required rental payment or deposit is received

    Once my rental agreement is executed, I understand that:

    • I am renting space only.
    • I am not an employee or contractor of Handmade U.
    • I am fully responsible for my event, participants, and facilitation.
    • I am responsible for marketing, registration, and payment collection.
    • I am responsible for all materials, supplies, and specialty equipment required for my event.
    • All setup and cleanup time must be included in my reserved rental hours.
    • I assume responsibility for my participants during my rental period.
    • I am responsible for complying with all applicable laws, permits, licenses, and insurance requirements related to my event.

    I understand that Handmade U provides space and basic amenities only and is not responsible for my business operations, participant payments, or tax reporting.
